He had picked the word 'mutant' out of her mind so smoothly, she had almost forgotten that she never spoke it out loud. Was this what it was like for the people her sister used her abilities on? Or could they tell she was there, knocking on mental doors erected in their minds?
Adrienne resented her younger sister for the powerful reach of her psychic abilities. The eldest Frost had picked up on Emma's abilities when they were younger, long before Emma understood what was going on for herself. The headaches. The other subtle little hints of Emma knowing things she wasn't supposed to, couldn't possibly have known, before she realized what she had picked up on.
This Dan, on the other hand, didn't wield his powers like fanfare. He struck Adrienne has having a quiet loner, almost mousy, quality. Like Emma before she knew what she had and got the balls to stand up to their father and strike out on her own. It was intriguing. Adrienne couldn't help the predatory pull that held for her. Especially after he invited her into his apartment.
"Nowhere important," she said with a winning smile. "I would love some coffee. It saves me a trip out."
