The crowd was nice, he was alone- well Domino was never actually alone, he always managed to find someone to spend time with. However, at that moment he hadn't found the lucky person who would partake of his company and fine conversation. He sat back and watched the drunk, nervous, peer pressured and free spirits as they took their turns at the mic. Karaoke was something that was always fun. Granted, there were times you have to endure the hopelessly tone deaf, but those who just didn't give a fuck about how they sounded and were just having a good time more than made up for the threat of bleeding ears.
He sipped at his drink, a simple screwdriver, until his time came. Dom moved to the stage with confidence and took up the mic as the host cued up the music. Domino didn't need the lyrics, but that didn't matter as he started to sing a Carole King Classic, One Fine Day. His voice was clear and he didn't miss a beat. He'd been singing for most of his life, well practiced and well rehearsed and of course, he made sure to warm up on the way to the bar- he wasn't an amateur.
Well, he was. While he may have had many who hung on his every word at 'Home' and 'The Estate', his performing career didn't have a ton of hits. The occasional extra or bit part in a movie or TV show, one commercial years ago. He performed at open mic nights and while it had been about seven years he was a constant fixture on a few street corners- playing music. His YouTube channel had a decent amount of followers- and not all of them were family. But in the grand scheme of things, he'd not hit it big as he'd planned when he moved to LA. Not that it mattered to him. He knew it would happen one day, in the meantime he would just continue to do what he loved.
As he finished he gave a little bow, grabbed his drink and headed back to the audience. He caught the eye of someone who was smiling and who'd seemed to enjoy his performance. "What did you think?" He asked with coy smile. "I'd hate to let a legend like Ms. Natural Woman herself down."
