hi all, i figured i'd toss her out for lines now that she's in. this is liddie paget. she's a 30 year old hogwarts/ravenclaw alum who owns a book shop in diagon alley called paget's pages. while the pagets are generally a well thought of magical family, liddie's mom was a squib who ended up with a muggle as she found she had far more in common with him than the wizards she met. liddie was raised muggle with no knowledge of the magical side of her family because her mother didn't want to set her up for disappointment if she turned out to be a squib as well. everything was explained to her once her letter arrived and liddi, having always been fairly studious dove right in to catch up on everything she missed out on.

she's fairly introverted, definitely more of an observer more than a talker who can surprise people with her observations and random bits of knowledge. she's definitely one of those people who is insatiable for knowledge and wants to know a little bit about everything. she has a sort of quiet strength and can be very proud and stubborn and was a bit of an overachiever in school. she's not one to admit she's wrong and likes people who are firm in their convictions. she's not one for flakes or wishy washy people. she inherited her shop from an aunt she instantly connected with once they finally met. the shop's been hers for six years now. no one was surprised by this and it was a very smooth transition since she was always in the shop and had worked there from the day she left hogwarts. it's a bit cluttered, but she knows the place backwards and forwards and can usually find exactly what a person needs. they do occasionally have rare volumes but liddie tends to buy in bulk and sift through the rubbish to find gems. she's a quiet order supporter, but publicly neutral lest her business suffer for it.

i'd love customers, friends from hogwarts or otherwise, fellow shop owners, an ex from hogwarts for something with some details (she's a lesbian) or maybe another ex or a fling or two, anything and everything you'd like to plot out. ps: i know i missed a few of you in pbads, come bother me again, please!

she probably knows severus at least on sight! he's the kind of customer she'll either love or hate, who comes in very often to browse, read, etc, and the only buys something once or twice a month. he has poor social skills but if she caught him browsing something potions related he may have told her about it in detail, which she could take well or badly

she doesn't mind browsing and though she's much more outgoing and helpful in shopkeeper mode she's a fairly quiet sort so she wouldn't mind any awkwardness. i feel like she would be quietly amused like OH HE SPEAKS before perking up to listen in case she might learn something.

and then she gets the joyful experience of him talking for 10mins straight about intricate potion methods and then he abruptly cuts off and tries to peace. but i read that she also buys a lot from estate sales, so he would definitely be interested and ask her for any books she comes across that concern old magic / dark magic, and he has a cover for the second one because he works at borgin & burkes! but he's also shady af so

i can throw mae in as a customer as well. she's just taken a job as a dragonologist and so she probably came into the shop in a panic to buy everything they have about dragons!

she would have been happy to help and very congratulatory if she told her about her new gig. she's a bit curious about dragons thanks to her wand core so i can see her going off on a bit of a dragon reading kick thanks to her popping in. maybe she told her she'd let her know if she got any more dragon stuff in?

that sounds great to me. mae would be happy to share any knowledge with her, too. she'd appreciate the heads up about new books coming in, although since they're a pretty restricted magical creature i can't imagine there's new publications coming out!

she tends to buy used, usually big lots from estate sales and just goes through them once she gets back so there's a chance she could find something!

hello hello! i feel like i'm just playing catch up here but anyway, she sounds absolutely lovely and from talking to ~carwen, it sounds like these two are going to do a lot of interacting soon. he's set to look out for her in the coming days and they would have met up last night when he dropped off her cloak from carwen. that said though, they are only a year in the difference (he just turned 31 in december) and were in the same house in hogwarts so they'd know each other for certain! he's from the pureblooded tourret family and while he always silently questioned the logic of the purist ideals, he never spoke out loud about it until about 5 years ago when he joined the order. he was always pretty quiet in school - thoughtful, brooding, serious. because of her line with carwen, i wouldn't want to propose anything with regards to close friends but maybe acquaintances, at the very least? hopefully they'll build up toward a solid friendship as this protection arrangement develops.

hello, hello. i heard they'll be interacting as well! liddie was mostly focused on her studies in school and not the most sociable either so maybe they could have sort of been aware of each other and a bit, nod in the hall friendly? him being in the order is definitely something i'm glad to hear as she is definitely sympathetic toward them and very curious but a bit hesitant for obvious reasons. i'd love for them to talk a bit about their thoughts on the purists and everything going on. because of her history with carwen i can see her being a bit wary around him, at least initially. she doesn't know what he knows and while she's not that concerned about people knowing about her personal life she knows carwen is private and would be sort of worried about tipping him off, if that makes sense? she's also a bit proud and embarassed about being fussed over and protected but wouldn't be rude, but there could be a bit of a vibe he could pick up on?

yes, a friendly nod in the hallways and greetings in the common room, all that sort of stuff. carwen hasn't actually told him very much of anything about what went on with liddie and carwen after their divorce. we haven't written out yesterday's scene just yet but i think the plan is just to keep elliot under the impression that she's a friend? i could be wrong though. however, elliot is a legilimens and while he isn't so skilled with it yet, he's been working on it so i'm saying that he's kind of caught onto the emotion behind the favour. he doesn't know much but he knows more than carwen let on. that said, all you've said makes sense! he already has a lot going on with patrolling hogwarts, auror things, family things, etc so i feel like his protection is going to be more of a watchful eye than full on body guard style or anything. when he is around though, he'll certainly pick up on that vibe but i feel like as they get to know one another and discuss purist ideals and all that jazz, they could probably develop a pretty solid friendship out of it! i mean, maybe there'll be a side of her she'll always keep closed off, because she doesn't want to tip him off to carwen's personal life but still, in all other aspects, i think they could really help each other out.
