good morning, afternoon, etc, wherever you are! i know that some of you are still recovering from the holiday but i thought i would put out some feelers before i applied and see what i could go in with. tiberius is a twenty-six year old former ravenclaw who now works for the committee for experimental charms. he's part-giant (only one-fourth) but his family has tried hard to keep that knowledge a secret to maintain that sacred twenty-eight status. they don't really believe in the idea of blood purity the way that some of the others do but know that it's important to fly under the radar. the woman that his dad is married to isn't the biological mother to any of his children, but she and the dad are the only ones who know about that in any official capacity. tiberius is very tall for a regular human but small for a giant, so they're able to claim that it's a genetic throwback to much taller ancestors but whether people actually believe that or not can be a different story entirely. right now he works for the committee for experimental charms, partially because his giant blood makes him a bit more resilient to magic and less affected by spells gone wrong but part of his job includes going to crime scenes to look for common elements in dark magic to see if they can discover who the users are because he has a pet theory that wands leave signatures. he's fairly neutral right now as far as order vs death eaters go but in school he was the defender of everyone, because growing up it was drilled into his head that he had to be extremely careful not to accidentally hurt someone and reveal what he was but i don't think he necessarily is a fan of the ministry as an institution because they've made a habit of making non-human magical beings into second class citizens.

SO consider this my plea for something fantastic with all of you. just let me know what you need or a little bit about your character and i'm sure we can brainstorm something great!

	yes!! i was just saying down below that i wanted these macmillans to be sort of isolated and do things on their own because of their secret but eudocia and tiberius are the same age so i'd love it if maybe those macmillan/abbott cousins were maybe the exception to the no outsiders rule the family had. that would be amazing, yes please! the abbotts are sort of like his family in that they aren't overly concerned with the whole sacred 28 thing beyond the fact that it does allow them a certain safety/anonymity these days. and family is everything to edie, i've been wanting to get her some relatives that she's super close to and the two of them being the same age would definitely have made her gravitate more towards him.

	i'd love to work something out! sorrin totally understands what it is like to have a secret like that/keeping it a secret to save the family etc because he is also from a sacred 28 family, and a werewolf but keeps that a big secret too. it's like they were destined to be drinking buddies. and it looks like his mom is a macmillan, if i'm reading that correctly? so they're related somewhere down the line, even if they're more like second or third cousins rather than first. what's funny is that before i checked for taken surnames, i almost made him a flint, and then almost made the person who everyone thinks is his mother a flint. and sorrin's middle name is tiberius's first name what. i think sorrin is a little bit older than he is so they had only a few years together at school and i kinda wanted to make his branch of the macmillans a bit more isolated from the rest of the world because they're trying to avoid revealing what the kids really are, so maybe they didn't find out they were related until they formed a friendship of their own? what's he like?

ha i didn't even think about that because i was about to round up my laundry for a day of chores, but i like it. should they know they are cousins now, or no? he has a little sister as

phillippa, but personality wise, he is a bit quiet and reserved now, but he is friendly when he feels comfortable/open enough with someone. i feel like sorrin is a good, loyal guy, too. he has a potions shop in knockturn alley which he lives above. he feels like he shamed his family when he got bitten, and has somewhat distanced himself from everyone in his immediate family except for his sister. he's just a gentle soul with a lot of feelings :'(

yeah, i think they've been out of school long enough for tiberius to feel slightly more comfortable with talking about his family and connecting the dots with some of the other members of clan macmillan and being more okay with sharing how he fits into the family. how long has he owned the shop? maybe they met once before they actually became friends, long enough ago that they both don't really even remember it but tiberius came in as a teenager looking for something as a cure for being a giant and hoped he could find it in a shop like sorrin's rather than a mainstream potions shop?

	ooh, we need something. delia and her husband gideon are sacred 28, but are slowly (very slowly) coming out as more progressively minded than most purists. she's a socialite (she says 'ex') that writes for the DP and is catching some flack for her equality-minded views. depending on his age, they could've come up through hogwarts together too. it looks like she's a few years ahead of him (29 to his 26) and they were in different houses but i feel like most pure bloods run in a lot of the same circles. he didn't personally get involved with people like her as a kid, but that's what his mother's life was like and she made a lot of the social calls on their behalf. does she use her name when she writes or does she use a pseudonym? he'd be a fan of her views on equality for muggles and muggleborns but would probably reserve judgement on her as a whole until she took some sort of stance on other magical creatures (merpeople, goblins, house elves, etc) because it's very easy to support people who look just like you but he wants to know that (or if, really) her tolerance extended through the magical family tree, if you will. not that he would be vocal about this, of course.

yeah, she would've been a prefect/head girl when he was around. and to answer your question, yes, delia does write under her own name, which is probably a horrendous decision on her part; all that considered, she was the only gryffindor in her family for a reason. in reading the comments above, she probably would have no idea about tiberus's status, but his family's philosophy is very similar to that of delia's own: do what you need to in order to save your skin, but hold onto your integrity too, etc.!

	i love what you've got for him and the fact you're making him a half-giant is even better! these two would have been in the same year and house at school so that can be the beginning of a blossoming friendship. also, his job sounds like it could cross paths with hers occasionally, if a "crime scene" had witnesses, she'd be there to obliviate them (Reply to this) (Thread)

how would you feel about hestia maybe having figured out his secret? i feel like if someone really wanted to put thebpieces together, it would definitely add up, and in my head his older brother is pbed by chris hemsworth who is also quite tall and looks like he could be part-giant, so especially if you look at his siblings, you can tell. and that friendship could extend to him helping her help the dmle, despite not really liking the ministry

and she may use their friendship as bait for getting him to side with the order, or at least join in and help where he can. BUT YES, i think it would be fun for her to have figured out his secret, do you want to say she figured it out while they were at hogwarts? like they partnered up every charms lesson and being the chatty, wants-to-invade-your-personal-space self she would have asked him loads of questions about his family, where he grew up, who gave him the tall genes, "can i try this spell on you? since you seem to have thick skin which makes you the perfect puppet." and eventually, after five years and a trip to the library where she stumbled upon a section of a book on giants she finally pieced everything together. so she dragged him away to the corner of their common room and unleashed her findings? OR obviously, if you'd rather she found out after school it would probably be in the same way - though she always had all of the answers right there, even if he unwillingly or unknowingly gave them to her (she's a prodder and a watcher), she needed an obvious article or chapter in a book for her mind to click into gear

i'm 100% okay with her finding out at school and the confrontation happening then! that's the sort of thing i was picturing when i suggested it. until she told him what she knew, however, he was probably very much in denial about what she could've known and even pretended to be more affected by the spells than he really was, so if they were trying out stunning spells or something, he pretended to be stunned or whatever the response should've been according to the charm. liam and chris hemsworth are seven years apart and i'd like the ages to be similarly far apart for tiberius and his brother but they have a sister that i think i want to make the middle child and she would've been at hogwarts while these two were even just for a little while, which would only fuel the suspicion

oh, great, i liked that idea best! like i said, it would have taken her years to figure out because something like that would never cross her mind but the little subtle things would have kicked her mind into thinking "hm, this isn't normal" enough for when she read a chapter on giants it to become obvious to her and his sister would have just added to the suspicion so when she figured it out she would have just felt excited and then intrigued enough to question him more. i imagine she feels a fraction of dislike towards the ministry for their prejudice against magical species because of her friendship with him and witnessing how he hides his true identity because of the backlash. ALSO i was going to suggest that she encouraged him to try out for the team (as their special weapon) and i saw below that he did but smashed a bludger in half which is hilarious. hestia and em are best friends and live together now, too.

	he sounds amazing! emmeline's the same age and was also in ravenclaw, and as an auror, she's often present on crime scenes too, so at the very least they should know know each other. i think they'd get along great though, and she's probably in denial about how much taller he is than her so she'll call him tiny (Reply to this) (Thread)

i think liam is only 6'3"/6'4" irl but in my head tiberius is even taller than that at like 6'7"-8" so there probably aren't very many people in their world that are taller than he is. i was just about to comment your post, and i saw that she played quidditch! tiberius attempted to try out for the team but smacked a bludger so hard that it broke apart and was like "hmm, how about nah" and that was the end of that. he does like to watch, though! they'd definitely know each other professionally but i think it'd be fun to stretch their friendship back to school, and maybe similar to the help he gives hestia, he's kinda willing to overlook the ministry's bullshit to help emmeline out because of their friendship at school?
