There were few places in town that Hawke actually liked. Most of the places were too modern or filled with angry spirits. That one in the mall still hadn't forgiven him and made a riot every time he stepped into that building. The library, though, was a wonderful refuge with actual books and quiet and a sense of peace. Also, Sam, a good friend.
Apparently there was also a dog which completely made Hawke's day. He forgot why he came here and what he was after because there was a dog that just magically appeared around the corner and looked at him curiously. It had been forever since he had seen a dog, seen his own dog who was hopefully still safe with Carver and Hawke melted.
"Hello pup." He crouched down because he was a very large and very intimidating man and this dog was small but adorable. It had a curly tail and adorable little face. "Can I say hi? Come let me give you a pat. Belly rub? Oh, my Warden loves a good belly rub."
Never once did it cross Hawke's mind that the dog could be some trick of the world and dangerous. What sort of monster would make a dog a trap?
