Claire was still wide awake after everything and everyone in her house had gone quiet long ago- even the ghost was still and sated for some reason, but who knew for how long. The copious amount of caffeine she'd consumed lately may have been a contributing factor to her restlessness, but Claire knew it was something else entirely.
Or at least, partly. A big part.
She'd been thinking about doing this for a while, and be it the combination of a new friend-slash-roommate, or that she'd seen some other girl at the diner when Jeremy was working, or just the caffeine that gave her the extra boost of impulsive gumption, Claire found herself quietly jimmying open her bedroom window. Quiet as she could be on the second floor shingles, she crept down to the lattice garden wall and down to the grass, then across the small yard to the house where Garcia and Jeremy lived. All the lights were off, but his room only recently went dark. She knew he was there, and probably still awake.
Climbing up to his level was a little bit more difficult than climbing down from hers, but the daily training she'd been pushing herself through was really getting results. Claire was leaner, harder, and a hell of a lot stronger than she ever remembered being back home, but since their house didn't have a lattice wall, the nearby tree had to do. Eventually she shimmied to the thin roof outside his window, and rapped on it quietly with one knuckle.
