Who: Kylie & OTA
Where: Harbor road, Westwood
When: 10:20pm, Saturday
What: Crash and burn

Recently, Kylie had been working double time at Adams Enterprises. Since her father had threatened to take the Barrison deal from her, Kylie had done everything in her power not to let James down. Not only had she closed the account and gotten results better than they'd anticipated, she was given more responsibility in the next project she'd been assigned. It wasn't design, but that didn't mean she wasn't good at it. It just meant she didn't love it as much.

Still, it was what she would do to please her family, and even better, spare Bailey. Since taking a more active role, she'd noticed her father hadn't been quite as hard on her little sister. To Kylie, that made every exhausting hour spent working worth it. Bailey had enough on her mind, she deserved a little freedom from the future. Perhaps having just one of his progeny join him at the company was enough.

Kylie had Sundays off, so she was excited to return home and relax for the evening and following day. When she finally drove home from the office in Boston, it was past nine o'clock. She exited the bridge, glad to be home. After driving through neutral territory, she was in Westwood, and ventured deeper, where it was still crowded with forest. Had she been less distracted, she may have been able to watch for wildlife. As it was, she reached down for her water bottle just as two deer sprung in front of her car. She looked up, then reacted immediately. She yanked hard on the steering wheel in hopes of avoiding the deer, and spun out. She lost control of her car, and tried to right it as quickly as she could, but wasn't fast enough. Before she could even register what was happening, she crashed, her car flipping and twisting in and around the trees.

Before blackness enveloped her, one thought clung to life. "So much for a relaxing weekend."

Happy Birthday?

Who: Ruby, Sam, Griffin
Where: The Ashby/Shaw residence
When: 8:45pm, Wednesday the 7th
What: A surprise for everyone, it would seem...

'Don't be nervous. You have no reason to be nervous,' Ruby told herself as she lit the candles around in the den. She put them everywhere, from the living room, to Sam's bedroom. She didn't know where they would be spending his birthday and decided to cover all of her bases. Because Rose was at her medical conference in another city, Sam had the house to himself. He mentioned he was spending his birthday quietly, as he wanted to get some work done, but they could find time to celebrate later. That wouldn't do for Ruby. He deserved a great birthday, and she wanted to give it to him. She glanced around to be sure the box with one of his gifts was nearby, that she hadn't left it upstairs. She nodded to herself when she saw the elaborately wrapped package. It was small, held only the tickets to New Orleans, and a flier for the Audubon Aquarium of the Americas. Hopefully he would be just as excited as she was.

The other gift she had for him was something they would both like, she hoped. A wave of excited anticipation made her grin where she stood, place a hand on her heart to calm the frantic flutter. She and Sam had taken things fairly slowly. He didn't rush her, let her set the pace, and now she was ready to speed things up. She set down the long lighter and went to check her reflection in a nearby mirror. Her hair was still nice looking. She decided to wear it a little curly that night, and let it loose. She smoothed the front of her gown, biting back a nervous chuckle. She hadn't felt this eager in ages, if ever. She had everything ready, every precaution she could remember already taken care of. If he was hungry, she had Chinese waiting in the oven, the phone went straight to messaging, the lighting was perfect, and she had music playing. Something gentle that they could ignore.

She was in the process of putting her earring in when she saw headlights in the driveway. Heart pounding, Ruby finished quickly, grabbed her gift, and headed to the door. She looked outside to be sure it wasn't Rose back early, and beamed when she saw Sam, looking in the mailbox at the end of the driveway. The banner she'd painted hung over the entry way, and for the tenth time that evening, she wondered if it was too much. Too late now to fix it.

The keys jingled in the lock, and the door swung open. "Happy Birthday!" She began when she saw Sam, giving him a smile that lit up the room....which immediately faded when she saw he wasn't alone.

Griffin was at his side.

You're gonna find your way, find a way to be

Who: Lila, Grace
Where: Grace's house and onward
When: Sunday morning, 9:30am
What: Brunch date, so let's go!

Life on Juro island was never really an easy one, but as of late, it seemed like everyone was swimming upstream a little. Meagan and Tommy had moved away from Massachusetts entirely for Tom's new job. Lila was sad to see her childhood friend go, but knew it was best, safer for them all. She still had loved ones to lean on, such as her Grandmother, Grace, and Lach. The latter two weren't related to her, but she learned a long time ago that shared genes didn't make you family, and her family needed her right now, just as much as she needed them. Grace especially.

Ava James, the seventeen year old clerk that worked in Grace's shop, had been killed. It looked to Lila that Juro may have a serial killer in its midst, and obviously no one was safe from it, not even neutrals or kids. She knew that it hadn't been easy for Grace. Ava was a sweet girl, she didn't deserve to die. It was just completely senseless, as most deaths were. Ana Nicholls had been proof of that. Lila wouldn't wish that pain on anyone. She'd been checking up on Grace as much as possible throughout the week, but hadn't been able to take time to really visit her until Sunday morning. Lila awoke early, got clean and dressed, then headed to Grace's place.

She drove to Holloway's and rang the bell, rubbing her hands together to ward off the chill in the air. Spring wasn't quite there yet, but it would warm up soon. Patience was not one of Lila's virtues, and after a few moments, she began to call through the door. "Wake up, Holloway, it's cold out here!"

Who: Brand, Owen, Deputy DeMarco
Where: The Sheriff's Station
When: 11pm, March 4th, post dated
What: Interrogation

It had been a couple hours since the body of Ava James had been found, and the victim was declared dead on the scene. The victim. It felt so impersonal. So casual. Owen mused on that briefly as he drove to the station to interrogate the witnesses, a James Pierce and Brandon McAllister. Deputy DeMarco had taken them down to be questioned while Owen finished up with the crime scene. The scene where a girl, no older than his own daughter, had been killed. Owen had first gone to the home of Charles James, Ava's father. That had been brutal. Remembering the man's tears, his broken pleas, Owen gripped the steering wheel tighter. He vowed to himself that her death wouldn't go unpunished.

First up was to question the witnesses. He pulled into the station parking lot and got out. Carmen was watching the first witness, Brand, through a two way mirror. "What's your feel for this one?" Owen asked her as he approached, standing at her side. She handed him Brand's file.

Carmen shrugged a shoulder. "No motive, and as far as I can tell, he didn't even know the victim. McAllister seems pretty emotional. But why kill a random girl and then feel bad about it? If he did know her, that would explain it. My gut says if he did do it, it was an accident."

"Accidents do seem to follow him, don't they?" Owen mused aloud. Carmen gave him a curious look, which he shook his head at. He thanked his deputy and went in the room.

Who: Gabe & Arianna
When: 8am, Saturday
Where: The Mendez home
What: A warning

It was early Saturday morning, and surprisingly, the Mendez home was relatively quiet. Glory was up already, as per usual, and gone somewhere. The girl had more energy than even she knew what to do with, Gabe suspected. Viviana was also nowhere to be found, but her car was there. Gabe thought that maybe she was out for a run. He hadn't checked on Alejandro yet, but thought that he was asleep still. As for Gabe, he had a nine o'clock shift at the factory and knew if he didn't get out of bed when Glory woke him earlier, he wouldn't get out of it at all.

He got cleaned up and made himself coffee. He put it in a travel mug and opened the door to leave, only to see that someone was already there. Ari was standing before him. He greeted his sister's best friend, giving her his trademark easy smile, "Sorry Ari, you missed Glory. I think she went to get breakfast, if you want to wait here. I just made coffee."

Sun in the sky, you know how I feel

Who: Glory, Madi, OT Josie
Where: Madi's dance studio
When: 6:20pm, Wednesday
What: Practice and a chat

Glory had been in the studio for the better part of the afternoon. She was practicing the audition piece that would define her future. She was applying to both the Boston Conservatory and Julliard. Auditions were in April for the latter, and she was getting nervous. If she wasn't good- no, if she wasn't fantastic, she wouldn't get in. Part of her worried it was just a pipe dream. How could she afford it anyway? Financial aid would only do so much, right? There were always scholarships, but what if she couldn't get one? Still, part of her didn't care about that. She wanted to know, see if she could do it. Find out what she was made of. She knew she was good, but was she good enough?

So she practiced, constantly. She tried not to monopolize Miss Gentry's studio too much. ...Okay that was a lie. She was there more than she was at her own home. Miss Gentry had taken an interest in her, was helping her become the best dancer she could possibly be. Having her train her one on one was enough to take away the worry about not being able to go to a fancy school in Boston. She knew most people with her aspirations didn't often come from her background, but she could do it. She had to believe that.

Once again, she was practicing at the Gentry studio. The clock hands flew around, ticking off the hours since she'd been there, teaching the little dancers first, then practicing. She would stay all night if she could. At around six thirty, she stopped and started taking off her shoes and cleaning up. She heard the doors open and looked up with a smile. "Hey there."

Like ships in the night

Who: James, Viviana
Where: The caves/beach, The Coffee Bean
When: Saturday, 7am onward
What: First meeting

James was up early that morning, as always. His internal clock rarely let him sleep past seven in the morning. He stepped over George, his dog, and went to check on Christina. She was fast asleep, of course. Christina, or 'Tink' as James called her, was a late riser. James let her sleep. It was Saturday after all. She had gone over to her friends' house last night, but James noticed how she never slept over anywhere anymore. It was as if she were afraid to, afraid to be gone too long. James understood the feeling, the reason behind it. He closed Tink's door and went to check on his mom.

For once, she was sleeping peacefully. Since before he could remember, his mom had mumbled and shifted in her sleep. Her new medication helped with it, but it wore her out. He knew they were necessary, but it still wasn't easy. His mother had cancer and it had spread too far before they'd caught it. She was going through chemo, but they all knew it would be uphill battle, if not an entirely futile one. He heard a whimper behind him and turned quickly to shush George before his mother or sister awoke.

He grabbed the dog's leash and walked him down to the beach. They didn't live too far from it, luckily. Their house was small, not glamorous like some of the houses on Juro, but it was home. It was nearly in Neutral territory, but was still technically Westwood. The walk to neutral territory wasn't far, however, which was where James ended up. He took George off the leash when they got to the water's edge. It always made him feel better, being by the water. He sat on the rocks and watched them for a long time, lost in thought as George played around him.

After a few minutes, he heard George bark excitedly and looked around to see where it had come from. A short distance away, near the caves. James jogged over to see. It was probably a stray dog or jellyfish that had the dog excited. George jumped up when he reached his owner.

"What'd you find, huh boy?" He asked, ruffling the dog's fur. George didn't wait this time, darting back toward the caves to show off his discovery.

Week Change

Week of March 5th - March 11th, 2012

Juro is an uneasy place as of late. Three people have been killed in seemingly unrelated incidents, from various backgrounds and covens. Thomas Kennedy, Jack Mather, and Ava James have all been laid to rest. However, the Juro police have come to the conclusion that they are not accidents, but murder by magic. Sheriff Evans and his deputies are on the case. Evidence is hard to come by, but rest assured that these crimes will not go unpunished. Anyone with any information is urged to come forward.
