I wanted to send you off a note, first to thank you and your husband for your congratulations on the engagement of your son and I, and also to ask if it would be possible to solicit your guidance and help with the upcoming nuptials. Marrying into a family as distinguished and traditional as the Malfoys is a daunting enough task, without the added pressure of it being a social event, but we both know that a social event, perhaps THE social event is what it will be, perhaps even needs to be.
I have my own desires and wants about the ceremony itself, of course, but the undertaking is massive and I'm still young and relatively untried in pulling off an event of this magnitude. You, on the other hand, are known not only for your exquisite taste and beauty, but your skills as a hostess are unrivaled.
Lest you think I am simply trying to gain your favor, I would only say that, frankly, ma'am, the last thing I would want to do, ever, is disappoint Draco, or embarrass him or his family. I know that he has every confidence in me, but he seemed to think you wouldn't mind assisting me, and more importantly - helping me keep my mother on the outskirts of the plans. I'm sure you're familiar with my mother, and while I love her dearly, the woman's taste tends towards the gauche, especially the more she wants to show off, and with my marrying a Malfoy, she really wants to show off. My sister Daphne and I are at a loss as to how to proceed without hurting her feelings, but I feel sure that if I could gain your willingness to assist with the planning, not only will the wedding be a successful, beautiful memory for both our families, but I won't have to resort to dunking my mother in the lake full of swans she keeps insisting on.
With much affection and gratitude, Astoria Greengrass
