Professor Slughorn,

As you are aware, Draco Malfoy recently relinquished his captaincy of the House Quidditch team to me.  I am writing to you now as I am sure you are very busy with your various responsibilities as the end of the term draws near, and a meeting may be difficult to schedule.   I have a question for you regarding some actions am I considering taking, assuming they are within the power of my new position.

It's simple, really - am I able to make a few alterations or additions to the team roster?  I realize that the first game has already passed and that it is not customary to change the roster until the next year's tryouts.  However, my acquisition of the captaincy is itself something of a mid-season roster change, and because it came late I was unable to have any say in the make-up of the team I am now leading.

In addition, I have reason to believe that there are a few students who are entirely deserving of a position on the team by dint of their talents and persistence, who have been overlooked for petty reasons.  I simply wish to give these students another chance to make the team.

I do not intend to change any of our starters - that would be unfair to those who have already been working hard in preparation for the season.  What I propose, then, is that I reevaluate those who did not make the cut, with the hope of filling in some of the empty reserves positions.

Thank you for your time, and please do get back to me with your advice.

Truly,
Nikolas Vaisey
