The pub was busier than Lucy thought it would be. She half-expected that after the last decree had been posted, the wizarding world would become quieter, perhaps a bit more sparse over time. At that moment, however, the pub was the busiest she had ever seen it. Maybe the rest of the wizarding world was feeling as stubborn as she was. So many students stayed behind, unsure of how safe they would be leaving Hogwarts. A small part of Lucy had the same thought.
But as she spotted Roger coming in her direction, she knew that she had made the right choice. It had been too long since she had seen the older boy, though she wasn't sure if she could thank Hogwarts or his budding Quidditch career for that.
She smiled broadly as she rose from her seat, her eyes moving from Roger's face to the box he had given her.
"You're a bloody saint, you know that?" she told him before hugging him tightly. "Thank you!"
