What: The start of some problems

Rating/Warning: TBA - likely violence

For some reason it seemed like the professors were piling the work on this quarter. Alfie wasn't sure why - he thought maybe it was to distract them from what was going on, or from the students who hadn't come back. He was worried about his mum, and worried about Julien's mum and the weird letter she'd sent, and he barely had time to think about school work when he had to think about those things and about snogging Julien and the way he'd felt.

So, it wasn't any wonder that he decided to skive off his classes that afternoon. He ate one half of a Puking Pastille he'd bought at the new WWW Hogsmeade on the visiting day, and Professor Flitwick had sent him right out of class. He managed to make it a few hallways down, and then sat down in a dark, quiet little alcove as he ate the other half and waited for the sick feeling to go away.

Greg was still in a pissy mood.

It hadn't lifted, this general overall irritation with everything in the world. Usually, once Draco returned and classes started, Greg would bounce back from his grumpiness. Maybe it was all of the crap with everyone fretting about the stupid Muggleborns; maybe it was the fact that he'd been shorted days on his holiday. For whatever reason, a cloud hung over his head. And to top it off, it had snowed, and was still snowing making it miserable outside. The weather had kept everyone inside and Greg had not been able to get outside and exercise.

He'd managed to spill his things from his bags when leaving class and had waved off the others, not interested in hearing any sort of jabs about what a klutz he could be. Thus, scowling and feeling more than a bit peevish, Greg had been left the classroom and ventured into a quiet hall way, deserted of most everyone. And that seemed to irritate him even. more.

Making his way towards the stairs, Greg caught sight of a solitary figure and he paused, recognizing the boy from somewhere. He stood still a moment, a thought tickling at his brain until it came into clarity with a sly smile starting to spread across Greg's face, replacing his scowl with a far scarier type of look. Glancing about and noting that there was no one there, Greg sauntered down the hall and stopped square in front of the other boy.

He reached out a boot and kicked the foot of Alfie, not hard but enough to move the boy' foot and leg.

"Don't know if we've been properly introduced and all. I'm Goyle. What do they call you Puff?"

His tone wasn't hostile, but his stance and proximity to Alfie was intention, designed to intimidate the other boy, who was sitting so he had to look up at Goyle.

Alfie was still feeling a little green when the older boy showed up, and as he looked up there was a moment where he looked like he might be ill all over the feet that were kicking his, but it faded.

He recognized Goyle, of course. Every lower form knew to avoid Goyle and Crabbe and the other Slytherin goons if they could.

... It looked like he couldn't, at least not right now.

"Cattermole," He said, finally, getting to his feet. "What do you want, Goyle?" And why the hell was he standing so sodding close? And... glaring. Alfie was sure he hadn't done anything to him!

Greg liked that the boy showed some spunk; it made it more fun to let them think they would have a chance being brave, only to be knocked down to the ground. So he reached out a hand and shoved Alfie back down to his seat.

"Cattermole, is it?" he said, waiting to see if the boy tried to stand up again.

He hoped that Alfie would try. It made it all so much more fun.

"Just feel like having a bit of a chat with you, Cattie-mole," and he let his eyes find Alfie's, "About boys. You know, kissing boys?" and he leaned forward, licking his lips as his face grew closer and lower to Alfie's. In a more hushed, low tone, Greg said slowly, "You seemed to giving as good as you were getting."

Alfie might have tried to stand up again if Goyle hadn't started talking and - fuck. FUCK! How did he know. Only his sister and his best friends knew and he knew that none of them would tell Goyle or anyone else, and ... seemed? Like he'd seen them? That was impossible wasn't it?

"I don't know what the fuck you're talking about, Goyle. Let me up!" Except it was obvious enough from his voice that he was lying, that he knew exactly what Goyle was talking about. And that having Goyle that close and in his face was making him really fucking nervous about what was coming next.

Greg's grin slipped and in a flash his hand reached out, and 'Crack,' smacked across Alfie's face. It was a hard slap; Greg would build up to the punches, he decided in that instant moment.

"Fuck, Mole, don't lie to me! You'd do better to be truthful," he said, calmly with a mocking grave serious tone, "I mean, I saw you. Fuck, I took bloody pictures," he lied smoothly. He only paused for another moment, and then, 'Crack!' Greg backhanded the seated boy.

"Don't make me wait," he hissed, "Fess up!"

Alfie wasn't a dormouse, though, and he'd gotten into enough scrapes with his muggle friends over summers that he knew enough to stand up for himself, and he pushed Greg's arm away after he was slapped and did try to stand up then, sidestepping and managing to get to his feet, atleast, though he was sure he'd be knocked down.

"I said get out of my bloody face, Goyle. And sod off about shite you don't know. Oh, what, that's everything, isn't it?"

Greg started grinning again, lurching for Alfie, even as the boy took a swipe at him. Greg felt a punch graze off his face, and it incited a flash of anger and excitement as he pressed forward, to try and wrap his big hand around one of the boy's arms.

"What I don't know about?! What do I have to do? Paint a fucking picture for you?! You and that lad, pressed against each other? What?! You a bit ashamed of that?" and a new thought went through Greg's head, "You don't want anyone to know about it?! Brilliant!" he chortled, yanking on Alfie's arm and firing a fast punch to Alfie's stomach. Greg used his grip to push Alfie towards the ground, and then he watched for a minute.

"Well, get ready. I know it. And if you want me to keep quiet, Mole, it's going to cost you."

"You fucking leave Julien out of it," Alfie said, as he swung up again from the ground when Goyle's punch landed. It didn't dawn on him that Goyle might not have known his name, that he might have been giving him more ammunition - and that he'd just admitted to what he'd been denying.

"Fucking sod off!" He said, and landed a kick to Goyle's shin, but then the words sunk in. He knew, and he'd tell. And oh, Alfie was fucked.

Greg moved back from the swing but the kick caught him, and Greg let out a grunt. He hopped back from Alfie, before he wound himself up and gave the boy a solid kick in the side. He was chortling as he spoke, immensely enjoying the altercation.

"Julien is it? Didn't know his name, so thanks for that! I barely recognized you, as it was only you I could fucking see, you ass. I guess now I've got two to harass," he said, and he moved fast, throwing himself on Alfie. His goal was to sit on his chest and pin the boy's arms down. He had his body on top of Alfie's, and he threw a hit to the side of the boy's head, hoping to stun him enough so he could straddle him.

"Bloody hell, you are a bit more than you look, Mole," Greg said, laughing.

That hard kick to the side kept him from trying to get up or swing again, and by the time Alfie thought about it he was punched in the head, dazed for, yes, long enough for Greg to pin him down. He struggled, but Goyle was a sodding mountain sitting on him, and how the fuck could he get out from under that.

"You leave him the fuck alone," he spat, though, still trying to struggle and throw Goyle off.

Greg laughed again, moving his legs up so he pinned the boy rather effectively. He was breathing a bit hard, his blood up and the thrill of the fight flushed Greg's face; it was clear he was enjoying himself, even with a bruise forming on the edge of his jaw.

"Okay," Greg answered Alfie, nodding as he looked down at the boy, "I'll leave him be. But at a cost. You agree?" he added, "We can set aside this disagreement and come up with a plan, a solid plan that will keep all of this hush hush. If you are amendable," he said, pleased with himself for thinking of the term, "I can get off of you and we can set up a plan. Whatcha' say?" he asked.

Alfie was pretty sure that wasn't what that word meant, but he did stop struggling underneath the other boy, flushed too with anger and the exertion of the fight.

"You won't touch him or say anything to him?" What the fuck was he getting himself in to? Whatever it was, it had to be better than Goyle going around telling everyone he was a ponce. Or, worse, Goyle trying to hurt Julien. He could defend himself okay in a fight, and he could take a few punches, but he didnt' want anything laying a hand on Jules.

Greg stayed where he was, tilting his head to watch the expression of worry on Alfie's face, and there was a moment of bitter jealousy that flashed through Greg. No one would ever stand up for him, or even care for him as much as Alfie was for Julien, and it made Greg's humor at the situation slip.

"Yeah," he said with only a trace of bitterness, "I'll leave him be, but you," and that jealousy was immediately replaced with something more feral and mean, "You will be mine," he said, not moving yet.

"I won't make you swear an Unbreakable," and he paused, "I should though. But you and I both know that if you don't keep your word, well, he's toast."

Greg didn't move or speak for a moment, letting his words sink in; he wanted to make sure Alfie understoon him before he got off of him. Greg's smirk came back onto his face, "You in?"

The idea of Goyle even knowing how to swear an Unbreakable made Alfie's eyes go wide in a sort of terror that hadn't been there before. That was advanced magic, and fucking serious, and he got a feeling for just how dangerous this situation really would be.

"What would I have to do?" he asked, defensively, but then he thought about Julien and what would happen if he didn't, and he added a hasty, "I'm in."

Greg's eyes widened slightly at the look of fear that came over Alfie's face, and he wondered what he'd said that had caused that kind of reaction. He had no notion that it was the idea of the Unbreakable; if Alfie had any clue about Greg, he would have known the boy could barely cast a simple warming charm. But without knowing, Greg became exceedingly pleased at the look of fear he seemed to get from Alfie.

He slipped off of the boy, and stepped to the side to take a seat on the previously occupied seat.

"Well, we can start with favors. I've got a Potion's essay that needs a bit of work," Greg said, his eyes never leaving Alfie's, "I think we'll need to start meeting in the Library occasionally, to meet up so that you can give me a bit of help with my school work. Then, you can polish my broom," and he added, thinking about the new broom kit he'd gotten. He didn't mind doing that exactly, working on his broom, but the idea of having someone act like a House-elf for him was more than pleasing. He'd find loads for this boy to do for him; he was more than pleased at the idea of making Alfie's life a bit of a hell.

Goyle made it sound like he'd be a fucking servant or a slave or something, and Alfie bristled at that but also knew he had to agree, what choice did he have. He scooted until he was against the wall of the alcove, at least out of Goyle's reach, and propped himself up, arm over his kicked side where it hurt the worst. That was going to really bruise, he knew.

"Fine," he spat, "is that it?" Except he knew, somehow, Goyle would think of things for him to keep doing. It wasn't like he could say no. Then again, doing Goyle's homework would be a little bit of revenge, since Alfie was shite at schoolwork, too.

Greg gave the other boy a glance, "Let's just say we'll see," he said, leaning back as he rubbed his sore jaw slightly, "I am sure we can come up with loads more things for you to help me with. But for now, my homework," he added, and he nodded to himself thinking he'd stand up but then he stopped.

"So, you got to tell me, Cattermole. You must really care about him, to willingly put yourself in this pickle. Does he know that? That you are crazy for him?"

Greg wasn't sure why he was asking, but there was a part of him that yearned to understand how people loved each other, cared for each other so much. It made him think, fleetingly, of Theo and he wondered if he'd do the same for Theo, sacrifice himself as Alfie was for Julien. For a moment, Greg knew he would but then he doubted himself, and pressed Alfie more, wanting an answer.

"Tell me. Or I'll bloody put you on the floor again, you git. Does he know?" Greg asked again, clearly getting a bit irritated.

"I'm not even sodding talking to you about him, Goyle," Alfie spat, his chin jutting up defiantly. Goyle could beat the shit out of him - what he and Julien had was special, was private, and it felt dirty to talk to Malfoy's goon about it.

Greg's face contorted into a scowl and he lunged that the boy again, ready to pin him to the wall. Clearly, this lad wasn't smart enough to figure out that he needed to do what was good for himself, at least in Greg's mind. He flew at him, his goal now to pin the other boy to the wall. Greg didn't care that he was hurting; it gave him an advantage over Alfie.

Greg's on hand reached for Alfie's throat while other went for a hand that might be moving towards what Greg could only assume was a wand.

"Did you not learn a thing, Mole? I'm in charge here, and you'll bloody well tell me whatever the fuck I want to know. If I bloody well want to know how it feels to grab his ass, you are fucking going to tell me, see?! Or I'm off to find your precious Julien and I'll ask him a thing or two. And then I'll announce to the whole damn school that you are fucking him, see?!"

Greg's hands squeezed, both of them, and his face was close to Alfie's as his hot breath blew on him. Greg's chest was rising and falling with his anger, and he let go of the boy's throat, not wanting to actual do serious bodily harm to his new lackey.

"So tell me. Does he know you fancy him that much, does he?"

Alfie thought that Goyle was going to strangle him, and he started struggling again but it didn't seem to help, so he went lax against the wall, swallowing hard when Goyle finally let go of his throat.

"Fine," he said, bitter, but the last thing he wanted was Goyle going to ask Julien anything. He didn't want Goyle in the same fucking room as Jules.

"Sure he knows," he said when he could breath. It sounded defensive again, though. Did Julien know? He wasn't even sure how he felt about Jules, how would Jules know?

Greg let his grip loosen more and he sat back, "See? That wasn't so hard. Bloody hell, Mole, you going to make everything a god damn fight? We've got to get this straight, here and now, cause you know I got no problem coming after you, again and again and again. And then, it will be his turn. What was his name again? Oh yeah, Julien, right," he said as he moved back on the floor, sort of half sitting half squatting so he was face to face with Alfie.

"How long has it been going on? Do you see each other much?"

Greg couldn't help his questions. There was a part of him dying to know, dying to understand. The whole think kept making him think about Theo, and he wondered if he should try to start something up again or at least talk to the other boy. But that was nothing for him to share with Alfie nor anyone; it made Greg confused, guilty and more lonely just thinking about Theo and all of it.

Alfie raised a hand tentatively to rub at his throat where Goyle had held him, and he shrugged grudgingly, obviously not wanting to answer but he wasn't going to give Goyle any reason to go after Julien to try to get answers out of him.

"Every week. Why the fuck do you care, anyway?"

Greg watched Alfie rub at his neck and he grunted slightly, shrugging as he rose, "Just curious," he said dismissively, trying to down play his interest. The last thing he needed at this moment was Alfie knowing how curious he was about the two of them. And for a moment, a fleeting idea crossed Greg's brain about future blackmail acts, but he set them aside for now; he wasn't exactly sure that he wanted to get that from this vulnerable boy. He decided he'd think about it more later, on his own that night.

He looked down at Alfie, feeling more confident that he had made his point clearly now. He pushed aside his curiosity, and decided he'd ask more questions later; Greg was a tad worried that he would seem far more interested than he should be. He rubbed his hands on his pants, and stepped back, and gathered up his bag. Reaching in, Greg pulled out the partially rolled up Potion's homework and threw it at Alfie.

"You can start with this," he said, readying himself to go, "I'll expect it ready by tomorrow, so we'll meet in the Library, say, after classes," and it wasn't a question so much as a direction to Alfie.

Alfie caught the rolled up scrolls as they landed in his lap and scowled at them. Potions was a subject he was shite at, and seventh year Potions work had to be even worse. But then again, how would Goyle notice. He glared up at the other boy as he got to his feet.

"Fine," He said, "After classes." And e couldn't believe he didn't have a way out of this.

Greg gave a smirky grin, "Good," and his expression dropped as his tone became harsh.

"This is between just you and me, right Mole? No going and sharing your woes with some sodding girl or something?"

Greg watched him levelly as Alfie rose to his feet, "We got things to do together and I just hate for someone to fuck that up for us. Besides," Greg said evenly, "It is your lucky day really."

"I won't tell anyone," Alfie said, because the only person he'd tell would be his sister, or Audrey, and he certainly wasn't going to get either of them on Goyle's radar.

Did he say lucky day? Alfie scowled, confused and annoyed. "Why's that?"

I've been feeling a bit under the weather lately, and I needed something to cheer me up. This will do, sort of," he said, feeling an internal pleasure at seeing Alfie scowl.

If you wanted to downplay it you wouldn't have someone a year younger than you doing your work, Alfie thought, but he was at least smart enough not to say it. "I'll figure out something," He mumbled, shoving Goyle's work into his own bag.

He turned to head down the stairs, a whistle on his lips and a lift in his step. The entire incident had been a more than satisfactory exchange in his books, and he thought he'd played it out rather well.

And as he moved towards the dungeons, he slowed his walk, his mind drifting towards the ultimate possibilities.
