Heath looked for the fifth time at what Orsino had said in the journals.

It seems safe, now, anyway. My dad went in, and they let him go off.

It seems safe. From where he was sitting, it didn't feel like it seemed anywhere close to being bloody safe, and he still hadn't made a decision about whether or not he'd go in himself. It didn't help that some woman had been ranting on the things about muggleborn theives, and green lights ending their begging, or whatever the bloody hell it was she'd said. Damn nutters, everywhere.

He tossed his journal onto the living room coffee table, next to his bare feet, and picked up his guitar again and the new package of strings he'd had to pick up. He'd gotten distracted during restringing when he'd picked up the journal in the first place. He'd rather be doing this, anyway.

	Heath looked to Gideon, then back at Merton. "We hurt his feelings," he said carefully, and it was obvious he was still teasing about it. "Made him feel like less of a man. Do you think he's more likely to punch something, or cry? I mean, a real man would find a better way to shut us up, but you keep pointing out he's not very impressive in that department...." Merton frowned. "I didn't mean to hurt his feelings. It's not his fault I don't remember. I think I was drunk." Although he wasn't sure. Since he didn't remember. "I was drunk when I slept with Leigh, too, and don't remember." That one he didn't remember because it hadn't happened, but Merton thought it had.

He considered. "I think he'll eat our sandwiches. And then go play bagpipes. But it's okay. We can just snog without him." Merton wasn't completely without the ability to tease. And he didn't usually take Gideon's sulking all that seriously, because Gideon was usually still around to explain things to him, or make sure he didn't wander off, so he took the grumbling as part of his usual complaining.

He wouldn't mind if they all shagged though. Then he wouldn't have to worry about getting another flat probably, at least. Plus they were fit and Merton was easy. He grinned at Gideon and shrugged, shoving Heath's feet off and leaning in against his side instead, pressing a quick, playful kiss to his jaw.

Gideon arched a brow at Heath. "You're about as subtle as a brick wall, you know that, don't you Heath?" He rolled his eyes. "Damn right I'm going to eat your sandwiches. They will all go in my belly and then I will be too full of yummy sandwiches to play my pipes and it will be all your fault."

He tilted his head, watching the two of them for a moment. "Hey Merton, you knew the girls could get in the boy's dorm rooms at school, yeah?"

"I didn't think I needed to be subtle," Heath said, smirking. "You need to be romanced?" But then Merton was kissing at his jaw, just playful, and the smirk faded a little.

... He'd been teasing. About Gid thinking of a way to shut them up, and about them all getting in to bed together. Teasing. But now that it was on the table, and Merton was teasing about it to... well, it didn't seem that that horrible an idea, really.

"We just ate anyway. But not enough that we can't play pipes," Merton informed Gideon cheerfully. "But we can save them and eat them later and shag now. If you're not going to pout." Merton was, mostly, teasing. But he didn't mind if it actually happened, either.

He looked back at Gideon though, brow furrowing in confusion. "Yeah? I remember? Why? Leigh was never in my room at school." Since that was the only girl they'd been talking about. "None of the girls then did. It would have been a dorm full of people, and I don't think any of them were into that. I always went to an empty classroom."

"Since when do I pout when there is potential shagging going on," he scoffed. Still, he couldn't help but be a little apprehensive. Gideon was very good at the love them and leave them type flings. He didn't do relationships well. He was, he knew, prone to jealousy and he was potentially fucking up two really good friendships, playing with fire like this.

Then again, what fun was it if it wasn't a little bit risky?

Gideon just smirked. "See, Heath. Told you I wasn't having you on."

Heath groaned, rolling his eyes and then sitting up a little, so that there was space on the couch behind him for Gideon. It put him in the middle of Merton and Gideon, which, Heath suddenly thought, was a position he hadn't really ever appreciated this much.

He jerked his head toward the space so Gideon would get a fucking clue. "Fine," He said with a roll of his eyes. "I was a fucking moron. I get it."

Merton wriggled a little as he was moved and looked between them curiously. "Having him on about what? Girls in the dorms?" Everyone knew that, didn't they? Usually if Merton knew something, then everyone else probably knew it already. He wasn't usually first in the loop.

Merton generally didn't over think things. Generally he didn't think all that much anyway. So he wasn't worrying too much about a potential shag running any friendships. Besides, he'd already shagged Gideon, even if he didn't remember. And Leigh, he thought. But she kept saying no.
