Characters: Megan Jones, Drew Summers & OPEN
Setting: Hufflepuff Common room. Tuesday Evening. After dinner.
Summary: Megan is lounging. Your character(s) is joining her.

The first day of lessons had certainly come far too quickly in Megan's opinion. It seemed that having stayed at Hogwarts only encouraged a devastatingly short break. It didn't help that she'd honestly felt as though she'd just been released from the infirmary and had very little time to muck about. Despite the general bitterness Megan was glad to report that she hadn't found the first day of lessons all too daunting. In fact if she wasn't herself she'd have said lessons on the first day back were actually ... almost ... enjoyable. But then again she'd never admit that out loud.

Megan had returned to the Hufflepuff common room following her post-dinner meeting with Professor Sprout. She'd asked to discuss further options for her post-Hogwarts career plans with the Head of House and the woman was certainly helpful in filling in some blanks. Megan had been having trouble deciding on what exactly it was she aspired to be when she 'grew up.' And while being a professional quidditch player would be fantastic reality of the matter was that she'd likely end up something entirely different. She was currently looking into a medicinal field for the time being. She just had trouble deciding if she wanted to work with animals or humans. And there was the issue of Potions being a main concern since she...hadn't taken the course since fifth year.

Thankfully, she still had some time to think it over. And Professor Sprout had helped alleviate any current butterflies on the subject. So the day wasn't ruined just yet.

With her right arm still in a sling, Megan plopped down on the sofa by the fire. She didn't think it entirely necessary to ask to sit despite the fact that there was a familiar face already occupying part of the large puffy chair. Megan was so casual in the move that she doubted they'd mind.

Drew didn't mind Megan's sudden appearance on the chair beside him, but he did jump a little as she sat down, having been so lost in thought before that he hadn't even noticed her approach, not that he was the most attentive of kids at the best of times.

Apart from the way the security in the world had shifted after Dumbledore's death, now he was worrying about this weird blood-persecution deal and his parents always arguing and, more than ever (because in the end he was still just a teenage boy) his crushing loneliness. He's always been comfortable with who he was, and that hadn't changed, but he was starting to feel that literally no one else was comfortable with who he was; well, not enough to want to spend more than a night with him anyway. It was a stupid thing to feel... sad... about, especially with what was going on in the wrold, but sometimes when the world gave you problems that you knew you couldn't help you tended to focus on the ones you might have some chance of solving.

"Megan!" he cheered, his slightly sober thinking face being covered over by a huge grin. "How are you! What's with the case, how come you haven't had it healed yet?"

Megan grinned at Drew's greeting. She then looked down at her arm. "There isn't a cast," she corrected. "Slings for my collar bone - so I don't move it around much. Thing snapped and popped out from behind the flesh." She demonstrated the broken bone under her neck with her index finger...wiggling it slightly. "I'm on a potion. I'll be good as new Friday. No biggie." She waved her hand absently through the air as though it wasn't important.

The seventh year had grown a bit used to the questions. She was aware of how odd it was to be lame after being in the infirmary. Unfortunately, the collar bone snapping as it had required a few more delicate precautions. Thankfully it was almost over - better than the months it would have taken to be healed if she were a muggle.

"What are you up to?" she asked resting her head on the back of the couch as she lazily looked over at the boy.

"Ohhh..." Drew said, staring at the sling and trying not to poke it, convincing himself admirably. He shuddered at the description of what had happened and didn't ask, his tummy turning a little. It was fine if it was no one he knew, but when the warm and friendly person was sitting right in front of him he couldn't handle it.

"Well, now I'm hoping you feel better..." he said, with a slight but sympathetic wince. "But I wasn't doing much." he grinned, stretching and shifting on the couch, getting more comfortable but facing Megan a little matter. "In fact I was doing nothing... so, maybe that is something... huh?"

Megan snickered slightly at Drew's respone. It was astounding how the boy could make so much sense while making very little of it at the same time. He'd always been a sweet bloke and interactions with him were always pleasant for the most part.

"I could go with that," she replied with a considered nod. "I mean doing a whole lot of nothing can be extremely tiring." She shifted slightly in her seat to face Drew better before asking, "D'you have a decent time at home?"

Drew grinned at Megan's acceptance of his utter train wreck of a sentence and more, her understanding of what he'd been trying but failing to say.

"WOW was it boring!" he said, enthused and warming up to this new topic. "Mum was like constantly on my back about this and that and Dad was just like 'whatever' so I had to go out like ALL THE TIME just to get away from it all! Next time I'm totally staying here." he flopped back in the chair a little overdramatically before smiling at Megan. "Was it okay here?"

Megan had grinned at the boy's reinactment of his break home. It was like out of something from a muggle television show. Except the person talking was a teenage girl with a lot of blue eye shadow and bottle blond hair.

"Meh," he replied with a shrug, "I spent most of it in the infirmary. But I hear it wasn't terrible in here. Oswald's pygmy puff didn't multiply and people likely got in some reading time, I'm sure." It was actually quite boring now that she said it out loud. Should she have mentioned her father visiting? And the two-way mirror she got that allows her to speak to her mum all the way in France? No.... bad idea.

"Alright, it was dull too. But come one," she urged. "Where'd you go out? What'd you do? I'm sure being not here was better than being here."

"OSWALD HAS A PYGMY PUFF!" was Drew's excited squeal to that, and if he'd known but had forgotten or hadn't known at all he didn't remember. "I WANT ONE!" and then he calmed down a little. "Awww, I'm sorry it was dull, you shoulda come to stay with me, that woulda been so COOL!" he enthused, but then he went coy and giggly about what he did while he was away.

"Well." he started, his voice lowered conspiratorially. "I was really lonely so I went into London and I met some... people... and we did things." he said, obscuring facts.

"Oooh," Megan quickly recalled a particular journal conversation that had mention of things. "Were these the same people you did naughty sticky substance things with your trousers off?" Her grin was a teasingly knowing one to say the least.

Alright, so maybe it wasn't the most...proper subject to be discussing. But...Megan was hardly the sort of person to let conversation die down just because it would likely lead to being uncomfortable. Course...if Summers didn't want to talk about it she'd have gladly dropped it without objection.

Drew's expression was shocked. "Why Megan Jones, how dare you make such an accurate remark!" he mock-scolded before grinning and then giggling - yes, actually giggling. "Some were, some weren't?" he said, trying to sound innocent and just coming off as naughty. "It's not my fault, I was so bored!" and lonely, but that was too serious, too serious for the Drew people knew, and he couldn't let it out without facing it himself.

Megan couldn't help but laugh at the boy in his attempt at a defense. Though, she supposed boredom was a decent enough excuse for those sorts of activities. Merlin, she wished she'd had a winter hols at least a little bit near to Drew's. If only!

As her laughter died down she grinned at him and said, "Well I hope they at least helped a little with the boredom."

Drew returned the grin easily and rubbed his hand through the back of his hair. "Yeah, they did that at least." he had to confirm with another cheeky little laugh. "Why, what do you do when you're bored?"

"Dream about people like that to take it away," Megan laughed in reply. "No...I do much less exciting things. Like go to the beach or....drink." She snorted absently at how boring in comparison that might sound.

To be entirely honest Megan didn't exactly seek out people for that sort of activity when she was bored. Megan's form of boredom relief usually consisted of going out with friends to partake in random acts of socializing with their clothes on.

"Oh, what do you usually drink?" he asked, sounding genuinely interested, ready to take and file away that little piece of social information; never knew when these things could come in useful and it would stop him from asking Megan who she usually went to the beach with and where he could rent someone from to go there himself with.
