Lucy was right, Nikolas thought. He did think the things that had been sanctioned by the Ministry of late were ridiculous and out of line. His parents felt much the same - it was one thing to believe that it was important to maintain the integrity of the pure wizarding bloodlines. Still, Muggleborns and halfbloods were far more common these days, and would only continue to become moreso. It was impractical and foolish to attempt to deny such a thing. The majority of the Vaiseys clients and family friends were not of pure blood, and private prejudices were just that - private matters to be discussed in the home.
"It is. You're absolutely right," Nikolas said quietly. "And it's not like I don't want anything to do with you anymore because of it. I was just...not expecting that."
He didn't feel so angry anymore, not frustrated. Maybe starting to be a bit more sorry for Lucy's situation. Moving to sit atop the desk, he thought it wouldn't be horrible to inquire about the situation at home. "What's your family doing?"
