It had been a rather long couple of days for Lucy Elkins. After finally exposing the truth to her father and brother, she had been on edge since her return to Hogwarts. She had no idea what her father planned to do or if he planned to take her advice at all. To make matters more complicated, she wasn't sure if her relationship with Nikolas was going to get better or worse. She had been happy to see him come back early but she still felt awful about their earlier conversation.

She had wanted to tell him. She hadn't ever wanted to keep her blood status a secret but with the way things seem to be going, it was probably in her own best interest. And probably is. But after seeing him at dinner, she knew they eventually had to talk.

Thankful that curfew wasn't for a little while later, Lucy ducked into an empty classroom on the fourth floor. She and Nikolas had planned to meet there. She couldn't hide that she was slightly anxious about the whole thing.

As Nikolas walked down the fourth floor corridor that led to the classroom he'd suggest Lucy meet him in, he wondered exactly how this conversation was going to go. He had stopped by the Ravenclaw table during breakfast that morning and mentioned that he thought they ought to talk about...well, what had been discussed last week. It would be better to do this face to face, make sure things were clear.

But then, he wasn't sure what he was intending to make clear. That it would have been nice to know she was Muggleborn (nevermind the fact that he'd never really made it much of an issue in his friendships)? Did she make a habit of lying to her friends and family? The fact that he had never mentioned something like the fact that he was all set to marry someone upon graduation didn't occur to him as being hypocritical. He'd never made it seem as though he were interested in Lucy in that way. Had he? They'd become friends these past few months...it was hardly unusual.

So why was this bothering him so much?

When he arrived at his destination, Nikolas was dismayed to find that he still had no idea what he planned to say, or talk about, and that he still felt a bit angry, and a bit confused, and a bit sorry about both.

Lucy was already there, and he greeted her with a small wave and a, "Hello."

Upon her entrance into the classroom, Lucy had picked a desk toward the middle and propped herself up on top of it. Her feet swung from the edge while her palms gripped the edge of the desk. Although she was trying to preoccupy herself with the scuff marks on her trainers, the sound of the door opening caused her to look up. She couldn't help but smile in return as she saw Nikolas.

She brushed a strand of hair out of her face before clearing her throat slightly. She just wasn't sure what she was supposed to say. She had a feeling the night would prove to be awkward enough without her own usual muddles.

"Hi," she greeted. "Um, how are you?"
