Characters: Titus Scabior & Rodolphous Lestrange
Setting: Late Monday evening at Shalott
Summary: Clandestine meeting to discuss shenanigans, perhaps.
Rating/Warning: TBD

Passing through the club's crowd, Scabior followed whatever pathway was open, meandering his way across the room toward the bar. He was in no urgent rush and leaned against the smooth wooden bar, filling a small gap between hovering patrons as he waited for the bartender. Ordering a double of scotch when it was his turn, Trev pulled out a silver case from his coat pocket and started rolling a cigarette as he looked around at the booths ringing the main floor.

"Cheers," he said, hearing the glass being set beside him. The back corner was the most secluded and he decided if Lestrange was anywhere he was waiting back there. Tossing a coin on the counter, Trev took his glass and headed away from the crowd, straight for the booths. He slide into one occupied by what appeared to be more like a living cloak than a human, taking it for granted it would be the other man, fuelled by the assumption that anyone trying for that much seclusion had to be up to something.

"Not a bad place," he said, lighting up the cigarette when he was settled in the booth.

"Funny," Trevor smirked, taking in a slow drag, "I'dve sworn some of 'em were gnomes playing dress up."

"Well," he traced his fingers around the rim of his glass, coating his fingertips with a fine layer of alcohol. He couldn't deny to himself that the other man had called his top priorities out already but he felt it wouldn't serve him well to let those be the things the other man remembered most about him. "If you are asking if I believe that the Wizarding world needs to be cleaned of some of the filth running abouts these days? Never thought otherwise. And I'll never say otherwise neither."

Rodolphus didn't take his eyes from Scabior's face while he answered. And he had to admit, the boy answered easily enough that it wasn't hard to believe that was truly where his affiliations lay. Still, they'd be able to tell easily enough once his training began.

"Good," He finally said. "Then, Mister Scabior, I am in the unique position to offer you a very lucrative opportunity."

"So you implied," Trevor acknowledged, careful not to agree or get himself involved in anything until it was all out on the table.

"That element you spoke of that needs to be cleaned. If I were to tell you that very soon the Ministry was going to give us sanction to do just that. And that there would be good pay in rounding them up. Would you be interested?" Rodolphus had no need to mince words, really. He was already sure that the boy was the sort he wanted.

It wasn't the proposition he had been expecting but he wasn't disappointed by it. "As some part of the Ministry?" He asked curiously, toying with the dwindling dog end between his fingers. As appealing as it sounded to make gold rounding up a few mudbloods he wasn't about to take a Ministry ID to do it.

"Of course not," Rodolphus said with a snort. "At least, not as an official part, at least. "Though the money you would be getting would be from the Ministry. We would be... hunters. Delivering those that don't deserve to wield wants, to those who have the authority to take them away forever. It is, of course, far less bloody and permanent a solution than I usually favor. But I'm sure there will be room for as much of that as you like, as well. And Ministry money is as good as anyone else's."

He had absolutely no qualms about taking money from the Ministry, a puppeted Ministry or one filled with gnomes in fancy dress, gold was gold to Scabior. It was tying himself to the bureaucracy that worried him, with that dealbreaker off the table Trev saw very few downsides to the offer. Trev grinned and downed the last of his scotch, freeing up glass to toss the used up cigarette into. "I think I might be perfect for such a job."

"I was thinking the same thing," Rodolphus said. "We've quite a few who have signed on already, just anxious for the day they can put their skills to work. We've been training. How are your hexes?"

"Better than any mudblood's," Trevor snorted, shoving his glass aside and stretching out in booth. "Good," charms were always more his strength than any other area of magic but he knew his abilities and felt they were still something to be proud of. "Alright. They might need some strengthening but I'm a quick fire and know a wide range." A knock out of a Cruciatus wasn't much good if you couldn't get the spell off before your opponent did, he'd always felt.

"Well, we can work on that as well. I'll contact you when we're meeting, and you can meet some of your fellow Snatchers." It was the first time he'd used the name, and he practically bared his teeth as he said it. He liked the feel of it. And he liked knowing that they were about to do.

"Snatchers," Trevor tried the word out, nodding appreciatively at all it encompassed. He had plenty to mull over but from what he'd heard of the offer it sounded like just the deal for him. He was almost as anxious to find out who else he'd recruited to join as well. "I'll be looking forward to it."

"Good," Rodolphus answered. A moment later he produced a small coin purse from his robes and sat it down in front of Scabior on the table. "Then consider this a retainer, Mister Scabior. For services to be well-rendered as soon as the leash is let free." He stood then, pulling his hood back into place and dismissing the concealment charms. "I look forward to working with you."

He did not wait to hear the answer before he turned, disappearing into the crowd.
