Hands rested against his chest as she leaned into him, allowing herself to relax into the warm circle of his arms. She didn't care she was in a room full of her friends, everyone could see how she eagerly allowed herself to be drawn into him. She just couldn't make herself care nor wipe the happy little grin off her face.
Would it work? "Yes, it would work, you wouldn't even need the drink," she told him honestly and while she was smiling she was serious. He didn't need to get her drunk, didn't need to lay on the charm, he had her already hook, line and sinker.
Another question and she drew in a breath, eyes lowering this time. No, she wasn't. "I want you. I've wanted you since I walked away that night and I've really tried not to, I tried to just let you go because I truly thought I was doing the right thing but...I want you," she told him quite simply, lifting her eyes to find his once again. Her hand lifted, tracing along the line of his jaw, thumb brushing over his lip.
"I want this to be something so much, I'm scared you hate me and I don't know where we stand. I'd understand if you do but, merlin, I think I've been in love with you for years and...I want you, Adrian. I want to be something to you, I want you to be a part of my life more than just...some fling or Ryan's father." Honesty, up front and there. She laid her cards on the table and now she just had to wait for Adrian to crush her or lift her high.
