Characters: Sam Capper & Open
Setting: Diagon Alley, early evening on Tuesday, December 15th
Summary: Sam enjoys the wonderful holiday atmosphere of Diagon Alley as she contemplates tackling that whole Christmas Shopping thing.
Rating/Warning: TBD
Latching up her coat, Sam stepped out of the oppressive warmth of the bakery and into the brisk cool of Diagon Alley. Despite her tendency to whinge about having to help out in the shop she didn't mind it all that much. True, there were any number of things she could think of that would be preferable to work but she could also think of a lot of things that were considerably worse. And most jobs didn't offer her the chance for all the coffee she could drink and the possibility (albeit minuscule) of tips.
The impending holiday seemed to be drawing out more shoppers than she'd anticipated and she stayed in her safe spot on the stoop of the bakery, watching the crowd pass as she set down her cup of coffee and rifled through her pockets. Sam pulled out one pack of fags, slightly crumpled, and her favourite green lighter. Bending the cigarette back into a respectable shape, she lit up and started down the Alley with her coffee, content to meander as she looked at the different shop windows. The only gift she had managed to secure was a new set of Quidditch pads for Chester on one of their Hogsmeade weekends, other than that she had no presents and, even worse, no ideas to be going on with.
Trying to stick to the side of the crowd, keeping herself and her cigarette out of the densest gatherings, required more effort than she'd anticipated. In no rush to get home, Sam wormed her way out of the foot traffic and leaned against the nearest shop front to finish her coffee and smoke. She glanced over at the window beside her and grinned when she saw she'd chosen the brightest spot on the Alley, WWW, to loiter in front of. Grinning, she flicked ash away and struck her younger brother off her mental list, there had to be something in there that'd make the nipper happy.
