Megan offered a half smile in reply to his poor joke. She'd felt strange about all of this. And well...by the time she realized she wanted to get back into her regular groove Megan had slipped slightly into her own 'made-up' depression. Having to think about it all of the time didn't help at all.
"I'm sorry," she said with an honest tone. She closed her eyes and shook her head for a brief moment. A small pout came to her lower lip and she looked at Wayne, "I just didn't...want to talk about it, alright? I guess avoiding you, Kinsey, and Eloise was just...easier than having to tell you I didn't want to." She sniffed and strangely, despite the fact that this was supposed to be a non-serious issue, Megan's eyes began to water and her pout became more genuine in context.
Perhaps it was left over strain from the conversation she'd just finished upstairs with her brother or just the fact that she'd been hurting other people's feelings... she didn't know. All she knew was she was on the verge of tears and she couldn't explain why. "See," she forced an embarrassed chuckle as she wiped at her eyes with her sleeve and sniffed again. "This is why we weren't ever supposed to have this conversation."
