WHO: Ginny Weasley and HBIC McGonagall
WHAT: secrets
WHERE: Headmistress' office
WHEN: Sunday night
WARNINGS/RATING/STATUS: None/G/Ongoing

Ginny closed her journal, her heart in her throat. She felt like dancing or shouting or jumping on the bed. They were alright! Harry, Hermione, her brother... they were all alive! She'd said it and Luna had "felt" it, but there was a part of her that had been preparing for the worst.

Slipping on her shoes, Ginny cracked her journal to check if there'd been any replies from any of Harry and Ron's dormmates. Nothing yet and she grabbed a sweatshirt and the now blank parchment that had been owled to her and hurried out of the dorm.

Snape! Ginny kept turning the knowledge over in her head as she rushed towards McGonagall's office. She'd never liked him and she knew Harry didn't trust him as far as he could've thrown him, but... she'd never have thought him capable of killing Dumbledore. How had he been able to trick Dumbledore for so long?

Coming up to the gargoyles outside the Headmaster's office, Ginny spoke the password and clambered up the stairs. "Professor?" She called out, knocking on the door and waiting to be allowed in.

"Come in, Miss Weasley." Minerva was behind her desk, furiously writing on a parchment. Before Ginny had even approached, she had tied the message to an owl and sent it out, just in time for another owl to fly in through the open window of her tower office.

She took the message it dropped and gestured to a perch beside her desk as he took up another piece of blank parchment to answer what was, undoubtedly, another own from a worried parent.

"Sit." She said it without looking up, yet, but then after scanning the owl she did, and her eyes were dark ringed but not tired. "You've news from Potter? How are they?" Because she knew that 'where' would not be a question the girl could answer.

Even in front of McGonagall, Ginny couldn't keep the smile from bubbling up. "Hermione owled me," she held out the blank parchment and leaned forward, placing it on the desk. "She just said to send their journals, so that must mean they're all alright!"

She hesitated and drew back, her words dying in her throat. "She said," she took a breath and coughed. "It was Snape."

The Headmistress eyed the blank parchment and cast a revealing charm on it, only to still be staring at a bit of blank parchment. Her mough drew into a tight line.

"Miss Weasley, if this is your own foolishness - " But she trailed off at the allegation, her eyes widening for only a moment before her expression went carefully as blank as the parchment Ginny had laid on her desk. "What was Professor Snape, exactly?"

"Professor!" Ginny exclaimed, defensively, rising half out of her seat. "It disappeared when I finished reading it, I only brought it because I thought you could maybe figure out how to break Hermione's charm and read it."

At McGonagall's question, Ginny paused and sank back into the chair. Why hadn't Hermione provided more information? McGonagall would never believe that Snape had been the one to double cross them. "He killed Professor Dumbledore," she said, quietly. "He double crossed the Order."

Snape.

Minerva's reaction was gut-wrenching - disbelief and pain and fury. Not a bit of it showed on her face.

"That is a very serious accusation, Miss Weasley. What did Miss Granger say, exactly." Her eyes cast to the parchment again, and she would try to break the charm, but first she wanted to hear Ginny's version.

"She said..." Ginny paused, desperately trying to remember Hermione's exact words. "She said he wasn't to be trusted. That he was the one who killed Dumbledore and double crossed the Order and to tell you."

There'd been more, she was certain, but she couldn't remember it. "And to send their journals but that the post was most certainly being watched so to be careful."

Clever of her, and certainly that would be what Hermione would think of first, if she'd been there to see the battle at the Ministry firsthand. "Of course, she gave you no indication of where they were?" McGonagall would not expect anything less. And would have given no proof about the accusation against Severus.
