Who: Draco and Ellie (yes! seriously!)
What: Scene Lottery - Someone is in the mood to give advice, whether or not the other person wants to hear it.
Where: Random Corridor
When: Tonight at Curfew
Warnings: TBA

Draco Malfoy should never have been made a Prefect, but since he had been he took a certain sort of pleasure in it. Taking points and assigning detentions were small distractions from the larger things that worried him, but they were distractions nontheless.

Draco checked his pocketwatch as he came up the stairway and into one of the more populated corridors. It was quickly emptying of students - lower forms still terrified by detentions rather than annoyed by them, or older forms who were more interested in not losing house points, especially once they saw his badge. Draco smirked as they shuffled quickly in the directions of their common rooms.

Ten minutes until curfew, and he could begin catching students out after it.

The smirk never faded, though his eyebrow did cock sharply. She was still walking? He was tending now toward the 'stupid' bit of what he'd thought earlier.

"Ten points from Hufflepuff," He called, and then ordered "and stop wherever you're going. I don't care what you lost. It's past curfew."

"Ten!" Ellie shrieked and immediately turned around to face Draco. She didn't like the look on his face and immediately fixed a look quite the opposite on hers. "That's not even fair," she sighed and crossed her arms around her chest. "It won't take me long. It would go faster if you helped and then it wouldn't be a big deal because I'd be with someone who was an authority figure or whatever."

She didn't move a muscle, but just stood there looking at him, hoping that for once a Slytherin would give her a break. "Haven't you ever lost something important to you and felt like the world was going to end if you didn't get it back?" Yes, she was seriously over-exaggerating, but he didn't need to know that.

"No." Draco answered with a sneer. "I can keep track of the things that are important to me." Or buy new things, which was what he'd have done if he'd lost something, but he couldn't really think of something he had that was so important it would be the 'end of the world' if he didn't find it. Not now, at any rate, though he had the sinking, doubled suspicion that he might come across something like that, or that he'd lost something that important at one time. Like all his other doubled feelings, though, it slipped away from him before he could understand it, and the set of his mouth was decidedly more annoyed after the thought was gone.

"And it might end the world, but I suppose you'll have to deal with that. Since the only place you're going, is back to Hufflepuff."

"It wasn't as if I lost it on purpose," Ellie sneered back, totally letting go of the hope that he would help her. "It slipped off my neck while I was outside earlier." Her fists were balled and she was suddenly very angry that they had to have such an early curfew. Why was it such a huge deal to be out of the common rooms past a certain time? It wasn't like she was going to sneak off the grounds or something.

For a few seconds, she contemplated turning around to totally ignoring him again, but Ellie knew that was a special kind of stupid and decided that she would just enlist the help of her friends to find the necklace in the morning. It was the easiest. "Fine," she said in a quiet voice. "But can I give you a piece of advice?"

Draco's arms crossed over his chest and his smirk spread out just a little wider, though it looked too sharp on his features to be a smile. "Are you sure you want to risk it?" He asked. "So far I've only taken points." And there was an obvious threat behind that last bit. Obvious threats seemed to be the only sort that Hufflepuff's recognized, after all.

Ellie twisted her mouth around for a moment, pretending to know what he was insinuating and then shrugged again, "Why not? I mean, my parents always said to say what's on my mind as long as it isn't mean and I don't have anything mean to say to you." Well, she did. Just not anything she was going to say to him.

"You're cute and I think if you wore your hair differently you could be even cuter." Ellie smirked and tried not to look too much like she was trying to edge her way out of a situation that could become worse if she didn't march right down to her common room that instant. "Like, I know a ton of girls that think you're probably one of the cutest guys in the school but they are too afraid of you to really say anything."

It was, by far, the strangest way Draco had ever heard someone attempt to get out of having points taken. He was cute? He'd buy that, and the superior sort of smirk he was wearing was equal parts believing and confused.

"Is that so?" He asked, sounding as if he were humouring her.
