WHO: Audrey Wadcock and Samantha Capper
WHAT: walkin'
WHERE: out on the grounds
WHEN: Friday night
WARNINGS/RATING/STATUS: Gay kissage!/PG13/Ongoing

Stuffing the leg of her jeans into her boot, Audrey grabbed her hair pin and swept her hair back behind one ear. She didn't know why she was so nervous about meeting Sam again. They'd had loads of fun last time, and although Sam had kissed her (her first kiss, too!) things hadn't been awkward at all in Herbology since. Which was good. Very good, in fact, because Aud quite liked Sam.

She blushed slightly as she thought of the dream she'd had the other night that the Gryffindor had starred in and shook her head, straightening her shirt and sneaking out of the dorm. For some reason, she didn't want to share Sam with Evie. Normally she would've come running back to the dorm and spilled everything to her best friend the second she saw her, but with Sam, Audrey wanted to have something all her own, a little secret she could hold onto.

Making her way downstairs and outside, Aud took a deep breath of the cool night air and set across the grounds. She'd left almost immediately after Sam had invited her and so took the long way down to the lake, not wanting to seem too eager. The Forest seemed especially dark tonight and Audrey gave a little shiver that had nothing to do with the chill in the air. She'd heard loads of stories about the Forbidden Forest and while most of them were probably not true, or gross exaggerations, there was a reason it was called the Forbidden Forest and not the Really Really Welcoming Forest.

Audrey made to veer away from the edge of the trees when something caught her eye, a brighter spot on the ground. She crossed towards it, thinking it was probably someone's homework, but the parchment she picked up was old and covered in a star chart far more detailed than anything she'd seen done by a student. Brows furrowed, Audrey studied the parchment, her eye caught by the Latin underneath the stars.

She wasn't very good at Latin and it took her a few moments to pick out enough words to try and make sense of what was written. It looked like something about a secret coming to light and... "Diripio unus vos habitum carus..." Aud read out loud. Something about devastating? And did that second bit mean friend?

A friend was going to be hurt? Audrey frowned, eyes trailing down to the bottom of the page where another legend was scrawled. Look to the stars for truth. Aud raised her chin, looking up into the sky where the stars were just starting to peek out. What had she found? Searching the stars, Aud didn't see the middle of the parchment catch fire, but felt the warm air billowing up and jerked her head down just in time to see it disappear in an intense blue flame that produced no heat.

"... What?"

Sam felt her ego swell at the obvious adoration Audrey was radiating. "I've written some stuff," she admitted, turning her attention to the other girl for the moment, her fingers idly strumming. "I have more music than I do lyrics though," her fingers picked up their tempo, transitioning into a piece of music she'd come up with on her own. "Words are hard, to get just right? But music, I dunno, it kind of just forms itself."

Aware that she was starting to sound childish and ridiculous with her compliments, Audrey tried to calm herself, but she was so impressed with Sam, she wasn't sure if she could manage it. "Could you play me a song, maybe?" She asked, smiling across at the other girl. "I mean," she hastened to add. "You don't have to, you could play other stuff or you don't have to play anything, if you don't want to."

Finally managing to reel herself in, Audrey pressed her fingers to her mouth to keep any more inane babble from percolating forth. She studied Sam for a moment and then, before she was able to overthink it or psych herself out, she leaned forwards and pressed her lips to Sam's, the taste of the other girl's kiss calming the waves of uncertainty and embarrassment roiling her stomach. It was longer than any of their previous kisses, but only just barely and Aud wasn't sure what to do next. She'd heard other girls talking about French kissing, with tongues, but had never quite been able to wrap her mind around the concept and didn't want to end up doing something stupid.

It was a long moment before she pulled back, flushing with embarrassment at her forwardness. She tipped backwards onto the ground, staring up at the stars, willing her blush to disappear and for Sam to have enjoyed the kiss.

Colouring faintly, nowhere near the level of blushing Aud seemed to manage, Sam glanced down at her fingers, watching them move seamlessly along the wood. "Um, this is one of mine," she admitted, playing louder for the other girl. She let the intro loop a few times, more nervous than she'd ever admit, before she gave in and started singing the lyrics to one of her favourite pieces. "Climbing the precipice, I reached the heights. From the summit I could see the sights.

With my scope I looked, to the edge of the world. And before my eyes, what might was unfurled. Cause there she stood beneath the earth, one creature of tremendous berth. The whole wide world resting on one giant beast. One damn big turtle holding up all our realities."

Sam glanced over at Audrey, careful to not look her directly in the eye, in case in threw her off, and scooted a little closer. She wanted to hear the other girl's opinion so bad she was tempted to just stop there, mid-song, and demand it. "On past the turtle did I look. Stars my only guiding light. What did I see you wouldn't believe. It was turtles all the way down to infinity. On past the turtle did I look. Stars my only guiding light."

Playing out the last few bars, Sam let her arms relax, folding them across the top her guitar so she could rest her chin on them. "What do you think?"

When Sam turned to her, Aud let out a breath she hadn't realised she'd been holding. "Oh Merlin," she breathed, her eyes wide. "That was beautiful." She pushed herself into a sitting position, a part of her telling her she sounded like an idiot gushing on about Sam.

"You wrote that?" Sam had said she had and Audrey believed her, but it was so good, she couldn't imagine someone her own age writing it. She didn't think she was capable of anything like that, certainly.

Aud's ridiculous fawning shattered any nerves Sam had been feeling. "I don't know about that," she chuckled, reaching over to brush her fingers against Audrey's arm. As over the top as the praise was she was still pleased to have made the other girl so excited.

"Yeah, over the summer," rolling her head to her side, she pressed her cheek against her arms, looking at Aud and trying not to think about how badly she wanted to snog her all evening.

"I'm well impressed," Audrey said, honestly, hoping Sam didn't think she was just taking the piss out of her. She moved a little closer at the touch of Sam's finger. "What's it about?" She asked, wishing there was a less obvious, more nonchalant way to get closer to Sam. There must be some cool and casual move she could make but for the life of her, she couldn't think of one. "Do you have others? Are you going to become a musician when we graduate?"

"I fucking hope so," Sam insisted, skipping over the whole discussion about her views on graduation. "I'll starve to death if I don't because I don't really have much else to fall back on." Lifting her head, Sam freed a hand to fidget with, her fingers tracing the edge of her guitar's neck. "Nah, that's not true. I'd probably do the opposite, explode from baked goods. Yeah. Those seem like my most likely prospects."

"Baked goods?" Audrey echoed, confused, not following Sam's conversational trail. She moved the last few inches towards Sam and pressed up against the other girl, loving the feel of her. "Having to choose between starving to death or exploding from baked goods..." Audrey trailed off and shook her head, then leaned it to the side, against Sam's shoulder. "Neither seem like much fun."

"Huh? No, I meant succeed or die by baked good explosion," Sam clarified, putting her guitar down on it's case, careful not to disturb Audrey's head. "I just meant if music doesn't work out I guess I'll end up working in my family's bakery. And dying from pastry overdose. Or boredom. Whichever comes first," Sam smirked and slipped her free arm behind Audrey, almost but not quite wrapping it around the other girl.

"I vote for succeeding," Audrey piped up, trying to speak around the wide smile that had appeared on her face around the same time that Sam's arm had slid behind her. She curled her legs to the side and pressed a bit closer to Sam, taking a deep breath before she was able to speak again. "I didn't know your family had a bakery. Can you bake as well?"

"Ha! No." Sam cracked up at the concept of herself baking, she'd only attempted a few times and that was more than enough to know she had not inherited those particular genes. "It's my grandfather's, originally. And then my dad and uncle took over for him and now it's mostly mum's, my uncle is still part owner though." Falling backward, Sam laid down flat on the grass and reached up to rub Audrey's back. "Lucky Bakery, in Diagon Alley?"

Letting out a little mew of displeasure at the loss of Sam against her, Audrey tipped backwards and turned on her side against the other girl. "Lucky Bakery, I've been there!" She exclaimed, a little too excitedly. Unsure what to do with her hands, she curled one under her head and gently, tentatively rested the fingers of the other against the side of Sam's stomach. "They... you... there's really good jam biscuits there! They're my favourite."

"Good chocolate croissants too," Sam added, glad Audrey had snuggled up to her, she could easily stay out all night like this. "They're my favourite. Oh, and napoleons, those are good." Draping her hand over Aud's, Sam chuckled to herself. "See what I mean? Floury explosion. What about you? After school, what do you want to do?"

The smile floated up to Aud's face again and she linked her fingers through Sam's. Despite the chill in the air, she felt like she could quite happily spend the rest of the evening in Sam's arms. "Oooh, I've never had a chocolate croissant, they sound delicious!"

Audrey mused for a few moments, then shrugged, careful not to dislodge Sam's arm. "I think maybe something at Mungo's. Healing or something, but I'm not sure if I'm good enough." She smiled and used her thumb to poke Sam's stomach without releasing her hand. "Plus someone keeps distracting me in Herbology."

"Really?" Sam lifted her head slightly and looked at the top of Audrey's. She didn't think the other girl didn't have it in her to be a Healer, she just never would have guessed she'd it. "That's impressive."

"Hey," Sam's smile grew at the gentle prodding and she poked Audrey back. "If that's how you feel I'll go sit on the other side of the greenhouse then. Get a new partner? Don't want to distract you or anything."

Aud shrugged again, not sure what to make of Sam's surprised tone. "I like helping people," she said, thoughtfully. "And I like the thought of it... but it's a lot of work. It's the only thing that's appealed to me, though."

At the touch of Sam's fingers in her side, Aud let out a little giggle and shook her head. "No, no!" She rolled onto her stomach, half draped across Sam and wrapped her arms around the other girl. "Stay my partner! I'll choose another career path!"

Sam wasn't about to let a fortuitous positioning go by and quickly brought her arms up, wrapping around Audrey to pull her closer. Lifting her head, Sam pressed their lips together hastily, wanting to take Audrey by surprise. She kissed her firmly, letting the first one linger before she tried to deepen it.

At the touch of Sam's lips, Audrey's grin resurfaced and she pressed close to the other girl, unsure what to do. She kissed back, eyes closed tightly and wrapped her arms around Sam. Pushing up on the ground with her toes, she scooted closer to the Gryffindor, following Sam's lead and not wanting to the kiss to end.

As much as Sam enjoyed snuggling and talking with Aud, she enjoyed kissing her even more. The other girl's attempt to move closer encouraged Sam and she opened her mouth, passing her tongue over Audrey's lips. The way the other girl kissed was tentative and hesitant but Sam didn't mind being the leader at all. Being forward was easy when you knew your partner was receptive.
