It was fitting, to see Draco finally tie the knot, especially to Astoria Greengrass. She'd always been a rather good looking byrd in Vince's mind, a fitting woman for arm candy for Draco. Vincent was dressed in the appropriate clothes, and felt relatively good even after a late night of drinking for the bachelor affair. He had been pleased to be included; it seemed years since he had interacted with those of his own house, save the members of his Quidditch team. Hell, he hadn't even kept up his friendship with Goyle, and that bloke had been like one of his best mates.

Vince looked over to where Greg was, dressed in a suit that didn't fit him very well, lingering over a very doped up looking Theo Nott. It made Vince shudder inside and he turned before Greg could catch sight of his sneer. He had done what he could to put distance between he and Greg when Greg had been thrown into Azkaban; Greg had not been as lucky as Vincent in getting out in a hurry and the last thing Vince had wanted was to be associated with the other man. Vince felt lucky enough as it was to get out; the last thing he needed was to be linked to Greg in any sort of way. Never mind him not wanting to even think that Greg might fancy him in that way. It made Vince shudder again slightly and he downed the glass of champagne he held in his hand. He looked about, wanting to drink more and find some byrd who might be willing to nip into a closet for a quick go at it; if he were honest with himself, Vincent would have admitted that any sort of question of his own sexuality scared the hell out of him. He felt securely heterosexual but his tolerance level was zip when it came to those who liked their own kind. It had been a useful feeling, especially when his team had played against the Harpies; as far as he was concerned, every single one of them was gay and it had fueled his dislike against the lot, making his play more aggressive than in most games.

Vincent glanced about, barely thinking about Greg anymore, and instead focusing on the other people he recognized. Zacharias Smith was there, as well as a number of other Pure-bloods Vince had rubbed elbows with at those childhood events. It was like a who's who really, as he looked about; anyone who was anyone was in attendance at this wedding of the century. Vincent grinned to himself; he was definitely a somebody and that notion pleased him. With his chest out, a confident look to his face, Vince strode across the outside patio to hunt down another glass of champagne.

Millicent had mentally prepared herself for this night. She rehashed the worst possible scenarios, and braced herself to either handle them calmly and sarcastically, or to take them outside, to save the reputations of all involved. Of course, when she got there, she hadn't had to worry so much. She extended her congratulations to the newlyweds, briefly conversed with those who were willing and ignored those who weren't. Nobody was openly hostile - though, to be fair, who would be stupid enough to lose their composure at an event like this?

But everything was going well. People were polite-to-friendly, she was dressed nicely (red, she decided, was definitely her colour) and actually looked halfway decent in it, and with the ambience and the champagne, things seemed better, as if she wasn't a single mother, a high-profile divorcee, hadn't blown up her life in several directions back in school. She had all the uncomplications of a schoolgirl, with poise she never had. And fuck anyone who was going to ruin that.

Leaning against a banister casually, she took a slow sip of her drink, looking rather cocky for a recently-single person at a wedding. She scanned the crowd for familiar - or at least interesting - faces, because what else was one supposed to do? She knew enough that these sorts of things were first and foremost for hobnobbing with the Right People.

And that's when she saw him, purposefully striding onto the patio, looking for all the world like he owned the place. "Someone's pleased with himself," she quipped, a split second before she realised just who she was talking to - and though she didn't let down her guard, she discreetly set her glass down before she managed to snap the stem.

Vincent heard the jab, and stopped to turn on his heel, his smug expression flashing into a rather large grin as he realized it was a female speaking to him. But it wasn't just any female; this was one he knew. And it made him pause, his expression shifting from the smug grin to one of recognition, pleased recognition. He would have recognized her anywhere: Millicent Bulstrode.

But she was different, poised and confident in a way he couldn't recall. And she looked good, sexy as hell.

"And why shouldn't I? I've just witnessed a blessed event. I've just drunk the best damn champagne I've every tasted. And now, I have good company," and he flashed a big smile at her, "I think I know you. At least, I knew you when you were a shy, reserved Slytherin. Hello, Bulstrode," he said, stepping closer to her, so that he was just below her line of sight, "Its been a bloody long time."

Well, hell, so far this was going a lot better than she'd expected! To get civility when you expected the cold shoulder was one thing, but this was expecting outright hostility and getting... flirtation? An outcome so good she hadn't even let herself consider the possibility. But if he had no issues, then she could definitely run with it.

"And hello to you too. You don't have to tell me how long it's been - though it's clearly been good to you. You're smoother these days, aren't you?" And hotter, but one step at a time - and she figured that with her wandering eyes she was being obvious about that anyway. But still as to-the-point as ever, apparently.

Vincent moved to lean against the opposite side of the banister, "I've no complaints," he said, definitely taking in her flattery. He let his eyes move over her, being a bit obvious in his glance, "You look good Bulstrode. Seems the change suits you," he said, as he noted a waiter passing by with a tray of champagne glasses.

He turned and grabbed two of them, and then moved to the other side of the stairs, and extended a glass to her, "Read a bit about it, in the journals and all. Must of been a bit of shock," he said, glancing at her again, but this time shifting his attention to her face.

She had gray eyes, he realized, and plump lips. He had kissed more than his fair share of women since his school days, but he couldn't recall meeting a girl who had a face like hers. He found himself remembering their days in school and the hours he'd spent with her, and never really noticing just how pretty she was.
