Who: Greg and Theo
What: Hunting down the fragile pieces of a pysche
When: Today, Tuesday December 14
Where: The Forbidden Forest
Rating/Warning: TBA

It seemed to be his habit, to show up at work and have to go flying off to tend to Theo.  Luckily, Greg still managed to get the job done or he knew he'd be out on his ass.  He rushed out the door, grateful he used his broom to get about, and headed straight to the hut.  There he immediately noted Theo's coat and his shoes, sitting in their spot by the door.  Cursing, Greg gathered them up into a bag, and turned to leave.  He rubbed his hands against the chill, noting that it had to be freezing.  He held the broom in hand and looked about for footprints.

Sure enough, there were the tell tale prints, heading straight into the woods.  Greg mounted his broom, hovering and followed them, scanning ahead for when he lost sight of them.

Under the trees, the snow was not as thick, and what was there was frozen solid, oblitherating any signs of Theo's journey.

"Bugger!  Fucking bloody hell!" Greg growled when he lost any sign of where Theo had gone.  The Forbidden Forest was not named lightly; there were any number of dangerous beings looking to pick off a tender morsel like Theo.

"THEO!" Greg called out loudly, hoping Theo would answer.

Theo didn't start at Greg's approach, trusting him through even the strange panic that had caught his mind after the odd happenings back at the hut. He clung to Greg, pressed to the larger body like a scared cat plucked out of the water, as Greg lifted him up and out of the snow, his feet numb. He looked back at Greg as the other boy searched for a place to seat him, his stare even and steady even as he had no idea what Greg was referring to; he was just happy that Greg was with him and not out there being tortured by whatever it was that was coming.

Theo watched Greg bend down, fighting the urge to tug his foot back as Greg held it, biting at his bottom lip and feeling bad for upsetting his boyfriend, even if he didn't know what he'd done. He sat still and white from cold and shivering violently, but he waited, accepting the blanket patiently and not feeling that odd pang of jealousy as Greg cast to keep them warm; he said and did nothing, in fact, util Greg was knelt before him and warming his torn feet.

He reached out and laid his hand on Greg's head, rubbing his thumb against the short hair. "We're safe now." he said, voice and expression sombre but soft and a little more relaxed. "We can go, keep running 'til we get to the thestrals, thestrals Greg, then we'll be safe."

Greg worked patiently on the feet before him, and he only wanted to be in front of a roaring fire or in a nice hot tub, "Look, Theo, I don't know what spooked you so badly, but we are gonna be okay. I'm gonna ask someone, anyone, about making sure our mail comes to the Great Hall and not to the hut. If these.....surprises happen there, then we'll be safe, right?"

Greg was trying to use some sort of logic, and he went on, his focus directed on Theo's cold feet, "I mean, you haven't planned this out yet very well. You can't go walking through the woods with no coat or shoes. We got to pack for where ever we are going," and after a long pause, Greg mustered up the courage to ask, "Where are we going, exactly?"

Greg grew silent for a long while, "Theo....I don't wanna go anywhere. I feel safest here."

Theo took Greg's words in because he'd been trained not to interrupt, but he shook his head in denial both of what Greg was saying and his lover's casual attitude to something he thought at times was his father, Death Eaters, Voldemort or, sometimes, the staff at Mungo's.

He opened his mouth to protest, 'they're coming!', but he held his tongue as Greg spoke on, sinking in on himself like a little bird as he listened. How was he supposed to argue now?

He was quiet for a long time, long enough that the warmth came back to his feet which bled again, red dropping in fat drop like yew berries into the snow. Eventually he seemed to stop struggling with himself and appeared to make a decision. "We'll stay." he said between chattering teeth, again reaching to pet at Greg's soft hair, vowing not to let down his guard, not to waste any time on eat or sleep until the approaching 'thing' had been defeated.

"Look," Greg went on, not liking to hear the chattering of Theo's voice, "Professor Snape is in charge here. do you think he's gonna let anything get into Hogwarts? Hell no, and you know that! We are safest here, if anything is coming our way. We will be snug and safe here," he said, grimacing slightly at the sight of Theo's feet.

Greg made a quick decision, and he sat down in the snow, and quickly slipped off his own shoes and then the socks, his feet bare as he pulled them up over Theo's wounded feet. He shivered himself and slipped the shoes he brought for Theo on him first, and then with teeth chattering, he put on his own shoes again.

"Let's get out of here, then," he said, feeling a shiver run through him, "Its bloody cold out here," he said, as he rose, ready to help Theo to his feet.

Theo winced to hear Greg's reasoning because in his head Snape - or the Snape of twisted dark thoughts in his head anyway - wasn't who Theo would want in charge of their safety. He made a soft little noise of discomfort and shifted a little, about to voice his concerns when Greeg went down in the snow. He watched Greg bare his feet, slightly worried by seeing them so vulnerable which again made him just want to grab Greg and run for it.

He barely winced as Greg slipped his warm socks over his own feet, wriggling his sore and numb toes a little. He bit at his lip, unhappy at the sacrifice that Greg was making just for him, but he reached out to take hold of Greg's arms and get to his feet, a little unsteady. "I can't find my wand. We should cast so that they don't hear us. We can't be heard Greg... can't..." he shook his head and took a careful step, but it could have been because he was reluctant to make any sound as much as because his feet were almost useless.

Greg watched Theo stand and he seemed more satisfied with the effect the socks and shoes seemed to have on his friend.

"Your...wand?" And Greg felt that twinge of guilt; he knew right where it was but there was no way in hell he was putting it into Theo's hands. Greg pulled out his own, "Okay. I can do that for you," he said, flashing a grin at Theo, "My brave rabbit," he said, grinning more at Theo, and he turned and moved his hands up, concentrating hard on getting the silencing spell right.

Turning back to Theo, Greg waved a hand,"Its done," and he stepped closer to Theo, "A snog for your hero?" He said, grinning more to ty to lighten Theo's mood, "Your hero who is ready to sweep you off your poor feet."

Theo knew he didn't have his wand; even those times when he was back in the past he still noticed it's absence, knew that some inherent part of him was missing. Right then he thought it had been taken, and he itched for it back. He nodded and then smiled back at Greg's grin, watching him cast and then willingly stepping - well, stumbling - forward to give him a kiss.

"You did it so well." he praised before he tottered again, trying to walk by himself. "We have to go." If Greg didn't want to leave the hut they could at least put up protection hexes, barricade the doors. He didn't really share the slightly more light-hearted mood Greg seemed to be in.

Greg couldn't help but beam at Theo's praise; there had been a time when he couldn't cast a hex or charm if his life had depended upon it. He returned the kiss loudly, "I had the best teacher," and he swung Theo up off of his feet, grinning more as he headed towards the broom. He mounted it, holding Theo across his font and turning his so that he was facing Greg, face to face now.

"When we get home, we can add some extra charms if you want but I really think we are going to be okay," and Greg paused, "Do you think we should swing by Pomfrey's? She might have something to help your feet," and Greg sobered up slightly, "I'd kiss them, if I thought it would help," he offered, knowing it sounded stupid but he was honest; he'd do anything for Theo.

It was clearly a time that Theo remembered. He clung as Greg lifted him up, gentle despite his strength, and Theo actually felt a little safer tucked in against Greg's chest as they mounted Greg's broom, even through he knew it was just a trick of the mind.

He kept alert and always on the look for that which may try to attack them at every point.

"Our defences are low, the roof and windows are vulnerable, as well as the floor." he said, his tone strangely military, cold for a second before the mood drained from him as fast as it had arrived. "What's wrong with them?" he asked, looking down as though he didn't feel the knife-like pain anymore.
