Hermione had already thought of that. If they thought the case was apt to be solved with the Elkins girl found hiding away somewhere, they wouldn't let the team take holidays. When they thought there was a body waiting to be found, she didn't think they were in as much of a hurry. Then again, he was working with a team on this. They couldn't all be taking holiday at the same time.

"Your day didn't go well?" She asked, at least picking up on a bit of his tone when he talked about it. Still, there was a part of her that was reluctant to ask. Couldn't they have just one weekend where everything was good?
