Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Who: Lyra Moon and Fergus O'Rourke
When: Tuesday late afternoon
Where: Diagon Alley
What: Last minute shopping
Rating: TBD
Open/Closed: Open to Fergus!

They were books, not magical by any means nor were they particularly important to her but they were books which were important in general, in her opinion, and did not warrant the sort of treatment snotty first years were giving them. She was trying to explain this to a witch who was working at Flourish and Blotts.

"It's gotten ridiculous how much spell-o-tape we have to go through and here I am having to buy more, on my own time, because we can't keep up with the damage Peeves is causing too... how much? Oh. Here."

Lyra fished out a few sickles to pay for it and gathered up her stack of books and dropped the tape into her purse. She was in a hurry to get back to the castle so when she stepped outside the shop and in a rush she didn't see the person she ran right into. Her books went flying and she stumbled forward, balance lost completely. Lyra pitched forward and fell onto her knees with a painful thud.

"RAVING ROWENA!"

"Won't really be able to help you, sodding hell..." Fergus hadn't been paying attention, and so running into her was probably his fault, but that didn't put him in a hurry to admit to that, and he cursed under his breath instead, rubbing at his arm - she'd hit a bruise - before he noticed that the witch who'd barreled into him was actually on the ground.

And he wasn't a complete ass, so he held a hand down to her. "Alright there?" He made no attempt to keep the heavy Irish brogue from his accent.

The ache in her knees didn't worry her half as much as seeing her poor, defenseless books lying in a nearby puddle of water. Lyra closed her eyes tight for a moment then let out a deep, deep breath before opening those bright blues again.

And then there was his hand, and his thick Irish accent hitting her ears and making her look up quick.

Oh

For a split second, Tristan's warm, shy countenance flashed in her mind. This man had a different sort of aura, a bright confident sort of aura. Lyra took his hand, just for a moment to stand and then dropped it quick so she could gather her books.

"Yes, just fine, can't say the same for my books though."

"Books?" He hadn't noticed book - mostly because he'd been looking her over as he helped her up. A bit mousey, but fit, and her eyes were a nice sort of blue. Shaggable, he thought, and put a little more charm into his smile.

He had to look around when she'd spoken, though, and he noticed the book and let go of her hand to go and start to gather them up. "Bit soggy is all. Sure they'll dry out."

"Well, sure," she scrunched up her nose and made a face. My goodness, they were wizards after all. She picked up her purse, plucked her wand out from within and placed it on her shoulder before using her wand to cast a couple of good spells.

One levitated the books and the other cleaned them up and dried them up. She curled an arm around the stack and held them against her hip as she regarded his man. She didn't know him, but being ever the pleasant type (despite having achy knees and wanting to blame him for stumbling in the first place) she smiled.

"See, all better, now.. if you'll excuse me," she shifted to slip past him.

He was left with fuck all to do except watch while she claimed her books again, but then she was smiling - and that smile definitely put her into the shaggable camp, mousy or not.

He stepped in front of her, grinning easily and holding up his hands. "Whoa, you can't rush off like that. I knocked you about and all. You have to at least let me buy you a drink or something."

A dark eyebrow arched and was lost under the puff of black bangs cut straight across her eyebrows. The free hand of hers settled on her hip as she paused to size him up again.

"Is that so? How rude of me, I didn't realize that was the proper thing to do," she felt sort of guilty for how easy those words came. It wasn't that she was flirting though, she was just being.. nice.

"But my mum taught me to be smart so I don't let perfect strangers buy me drinks," she widened that smile and offered out her hand.

"Lyra Moon."

"Fergus," he offered, taking her hand and then bringing it to his lips to kiss her knuckles instead of shaking it. He smiled at her above it, eyes wrinkling at the edges, and then he lowered her hand and gave her a shrug. "Smart mum, but I wouldn't say we're strangers. I did just knock you out on a busy sidewalk, and all. If that doesn't make someone a new friend, I don't know what does."

She really had to convince herself she was doing nothing wrong. It was him making these very... very obvious sort of moves. A kiss on the hand? She only ever knew blokes who played women to do that. And old grandpas.

Lyra drew her hand back and adjusted where her purse was held on her shoulder. She then tucked a strand of dark hair behind her ear and offered a sigh in reply, as if giving in.

"I suppose so... just one, then?" she would normally have the audacity to make him carry her books but something kept her from being so bold. Dark eyes, dark hair, a different face in the back of her mind. "Where?"

"Wherever you want, love," He smiled that same easy smile again, looking about. "The Leaky is closest, I guess. Or Martini? Suppose it depends on how much your knees hurt, now, how much you want to make me pay."

He laughed as if he'd made a joke, though he was serious about going wherever she wanted. Have her feel like she was calling the shots and all that. Something caught his eye as he was looking for her answer, though, and he turned away from her to retrieve it.

"Oy... spell-o-tape. Did I knock this loose from you too?"

"Leaky," she said at once. It wasn't that she liked it much more and in fact, she had been interested in Martini but she didn't feel adequately dressed for that place nor did she want to make him pay that much. A place like that was more suitable for.. a date. Which, this was not.

"Ah, yes, thanks," she reached for it, tucked it back in her purse. "Bought it for work..." she trailed off as they began walking toward The Leaky Cauldron.

"For work at Hogwarts Library," she decided to elaborate. "We have so many books being mistreated and magic to repair them all his exhausting, so .. spell-o-tape."
