In a way she'd always known that he would look for her no matter what, but a small part of her had hoped he'd simply taken it at face value for what was going on then and found a way to move on. It made her feel just a bit worse when she realized she was glad he'd looked for her. It was just more confirmation of what they'd felt. Proof that it wasn't a beautiful dream she'd thought up sometime and that she'd never have to come crashing back to reality because it wouldn't prove to be false. It made her love him more than she ever thought was possible.
They were probably giving a lot of amusement to the people of Diagon Alley with their dramatic reunion, but Trish couldn't find herself to care. In reality she didn't even remember that they were out in public. Right now her entire world was focused on Alix. The feel of him, the smell of him, everything about him. Alix, Alix, Alix. Nothing else was penetrating her thought process. She just needed to be here with him and give him the explanations she owed him and then perhaps convince him that it was ok for her to drag him home with her. She certainly didn't want to relinquish him.
She nearly panicked when he let go of her hand, but calmed when he simply wrapped that arm around her as well. She followed his lead, wrapping her now freed arm around him as well as he spoke. "So it's because of them that we've met again so soon? I'll have to send them a gift basket," she quipped, snuggling into him. She meant it too. While she'd fully expected to go the entire week ultimatum before steeling herself to see him she couldn't help but be thrilled and grateful now that it had happened so soon. The fear she'd had about the meeting had all but evaporated just being with him and now she wondered why she'd been so worried in the first place. Even if he did get angry with her she was certain they could work it out.
"Safest," she repeated the word after he said it, a frown marring her features as she sighed deeply. "I thought it was then. Everything was so tense and I was just getting higher and higher strung as time went." And he was gone so much for his posts that the things she heard seemed so much worse and like it was just around the corner. She'd even heard other Aurors talking about who they thought would be in on the 'new regime'. "And it seemed like I'd just gotten out when they started calling in muggleborns for questioning." And she'd known her position at the Ministry wouldn't save her.
"To an extent." How could she ever be truly and completely happy if he wasn't around? "I found a new job and I thrived at it. I made new friends. It was like I had a whole new life for myself." And she paused there, tilting her head up to look at him. "But there was always something missing. Someone missing."
