Who: Oriel Summerby and Natalie Midgen.
When: September 11th. 3pm.
Where: Magical Menagerie.
What: Kitten shopping!
Rating: Low. Also, C for Cute.
Status: Closed/Incomplete.

Oriel was filled with excited anticipation at the thought of getting a kitten. He loved cats. Of course, he loved all animals, big and small, domestic and wild. He marvelled at all of the other living creatures that shared the Earth with Muggles and Wizards. And someday, he would likely have a farm, full of animals.

But for now he just had his flat. With two budgies, a rat, and a pygmy puff (well and an owl, but he spent most of his time outside as he prefered). And soon, a kitten as well!

He pulled on a gray and blue knit sweater and roped a long, thin scarf around his neck before he set out, taking his wand and apparating to Memorial Park, which was usually the least busy place in the allies, and thus, the place he was least likely to land on someone. From there, he walked through Memorial Alley, and down through Diagon Alley as well as he made his way towards the pet store.

When he reached Magical Menagerie, he peeked in the windows, seeing shapes of birds and other things, but did not let himself go in. He knew without a wise and guiding presence next to him, he would give into temptation and come out with not just a kitten, but several kittens, and mice, and a puppy and birds and fish and more things than he could carry.

Despite having lived there for a few months now, Natalie was still managing to get herself lost in London. She got a bit turned around on the way to Diagon, but found her way back with considerable grace despite the fact that she'd gotten a bit flustered. Still, she didn't think that she was going to be precisely late. She just wasn't going to be early like she had hoped.

No, instead, the young boy she had befriended quite some time back was standing there waiting for her when she approached. He might as well have been her brother, really. The affection that she had to him was perhaps even stronger than what she had for her own siblings, who had never quite accepted her. But Oriel, that sweet lad, had found himself a home in her heart.

She smiled so brilliantly that it rivaled the sun when she approached, catching his attention and signing a familiar and precise hello without ever even parting her lips. Natalie was really rather proficient in sign language. It was one of the many things that she had picked up in her travels. And it was really quite useful in her field. The less of a fright she gave animals the better, so silent communication was a god-send.

Even still, when she reached his side, she embraced him in an affectionate, but brief hug, "There's my favorite pseudo-brother," she laughed, "I got lost again, but I found my way back! I think I'm improving," she admitted to her own folly, her hands quickly following her speech.

She glanced over to the door, "Are we about ready to go pick out the next addition to the family?" And that was really what it would be. She would need to remember to show him, at some point, the picture of Buttercup that she had hastily stuck in her bag. He was a fine creature that Oriel hadn't had the pleasure of meeting yet.

Oriel had been watching people pass by, until he caught sight of Natalie, with her pale hair and her bright, bright smile. His own smile was bright in return and he waved to her as she approached, and then signed out 'hello' as well.

When she was close, he stepped into the hug, returning it the same. Stepping back so he could read her lips and see the way that her hands moved, the signs that she made. Oriel too thought of her as a sibling, a sister that he had never had.

"Lost? That doesn't surprise me," he said and signed and there was laughter twinkling in his eyes, for he rarely laughed audibly. But it was evident enough in the way his blue eyes danced.

"I'm ready. I've been steeling myself from going in alone." Which would have ended in him carrying the entire menagerie out with him! Oriel turned to the door then and pushed it open, holding it for Natalie before passing through himself. Inside it smelled of animals.
