George had valiantly stayed out in the front room when Fred skeeved off. Until he saw the lurking hag. She was in there EVERY OTHER DAY talking at him. He thought her mole was moving. It might actually be alive. She was terrifying and the most astonishingly boring woman alive. At the same time. He'd be impressed, if he wasn't so busy trying not to get stuck talking to her.
He left Verity in charge and shoved a random product off the shelves at a small child-shaped customer whose mother probably wouldn't appreciate it. "Right, you can have that free if you go talk to the old bat with he mole bigger than your head," he told the kid. The boy grinned and headed off toward her - future Gryffindor that one. Right on brave. He just had no idea what he was getting into. It was a mire of mind-numbing, gap-toothed babble. And he was afraid she might actually fancy him or something. She was wearing lipstick today. Or he hoped it was lipstick. Otherwise she had blood smeared on her mouth.
George let the little boy take one for the team. (Or for Team George, specifically) And he took himself off to the backroom with a mumbled "INVENTORY!" to Verity. Not that he actually had to do that, since they'd just done it. He was hiding. And if she didn't leave, he was STAYING there until closing. He peeked out the door ever so often, not at all subtle about it.
