Characters: Trevor Scabior and Luna Lovegood
Setting: Late Wednesday afternoon in Magical Menagerie.
Summary: Scene Lottery: A sudden rainstorm - inside - catches two people off guard. (Rain-in-a-jar courtesy of the WWW.)
Rating: Mild, apart from probable cursing and possible insanity

Trevor’s eyes scanned over the shelf full of product, not quite sure what exactly he wanted but sure it’d jump out at him when he saw it. It was a vitally important task and required his practised eye, it couldn’t be trusted to just any schmuck willing to run his errands. Trev stooped and rifled through a bin on the bottom shelf, pulling out a small, fluffy stuffed niffler. It squeaked when he squeezed it and wiggled it’s nose at him. Smiling to himself, Trev squeezed it a few times as he stood up, pleased with the find. Serve him right to wind up with a dog that was so bloody picky about his toys.

He grabbed a second toy, sure that the little stuffed animal would be in shreds by the end of the week and a back up would save him coming back to the Menagerie too soon. Glancing at the list he’d scrawled, reminding him to make a stop by the pet shop, he remembered he also wanted treats and turned about, looking around the aisle. There were a few boxes of dog treats, obvious from the dog leaping about on the front. “Oi!” He called out, looking over the top of the shelving, trying to call out one of the shops assistants. “Any of those liver ones?”

Trevor realised as soon as the blond turned around that she wasn't a shopgirl but didn't rule out that she couldn't help him. "'e likes liver," he explained, ignoring her helpful suggestion and moved around the boxes again to check for any liver flavoured ones that might be hidden in the back. "Trumblefoots...what the 'ell is a Trumblefoot?" He hadn't really taken to Care of Magical Creatures but he was certain he'd never heard of that creature before and curiosity got the better of him.

She peered onto the shelf he was going through and didn't see anything that resembled liver treats. "MMm they often do, perhaps they have more in the store room. Trumblefoots are related to Cornish pixies just not as mischievous. They like to nest in pine trees.

"What kind of pet do you have?"

"Never 'eard of 'em," Trev grunted, picking up a box of mixed treats from the top shelf, Keg would be happy to get treats period, in his opinion. The dog was spoiled enough as it was, no real need to coddle him any more than he already was.

"A bulldog. Big baby of one at that," he explained, grabbing a second box for good measure.

"Most people haven't, they're very shy prefer to come out at dusk." Luna informed the man as he apparently stocked up on dog food."

Having never really had a pet in the house Luna was glad to talk to an actual owner before she started her own foray into ownership.

"An how is that like. Do you find him a rewarding companion, full of wisdom and comfort?"

Trevor considered the question, going over the many facets of life with Keg in his mind. "Dunno about all that," he said casually, "'e's not really full of wisdom so much as he is a lazy bugger." He shrugged and started walking toward the front of the shop. "But 'e's good company. Funny little thing sometimes."

She nodded, even if he wasn't a wise dog, Luna knew first hand that good company was very hard to come by. "Lazy is better than wild right?" Then realizing that she was talking to a perfect stranger she held out her hand.

"I'm Luna by the way, Editor of the Quibbler? You don't look familiar so you must not have been in my year at Hogwarts."

"The Quibbler?" Trevor repeated, taking a moment to try and place the vaguely familiar name. "That's the nutty magazine, goes on about vampires in Quddith or sommat, right?" He took her hand anyway and shook it, not used to such random, formal greetings. When he bumped into strangers it mostly consisted of grunting or occasionaly an apology.

"Trevor," he said, simply, forgoing his real name or surname, one seemed superfluous and the other too important to share. "You look, what, about sixteen, sure you aren't still in your year at 'Ogwarts?"

"Well actually, I think that we had an article about the vampire who plays for Bulgaria but it's common knowledge really that vampires enjoy the sport as much as we do." Luna told him with a smile.

His guess about her age caused Luna to blink a couple of times before she shook her head.

"While I might appear young I haven't been in school since 98' I promise you I have the NEWTs to prove it."
