Maisie’s day had been utter shite. Not that she really expected it to be totally great. It always seemed as though after several good days, there had to be one that upset the entire happy mood. That day had been the one. Work had been a little more difficult because there happened to be a whole group of muggles involved in a bit of a magical mishap. Why people couldn’t just buy their kids a freaking candy bar every once and a while, she didn’t know. That would solve half of her problems. So many kids saw fit to throw tantrums when refused...though, she supposed it put her in a job. At any rate, she had to work with the Obliviators, and some of them were high and mighty pricks that got on her last nerve. It just wasn’t her day.
Still, she’d managed to keep a smile on her face most of the time. She dropped by the grocery to pick up a few things for dinner, because she was running out of almost everything, and she’d ended up with at least enough to keep her afloat for a few days. The problem was, once she got up in line, there was a man standing there flirting with the cashier. Flirting, seriously? The girl seemed to be going rather slow, as if to continue the interaction, and after a few minutes of listening to the babbling, Maisie gave a rather theatrical sigh, but she tried to be as polite as she possibly could be.
“Can you please continue this flirtation in three minutes after those of us behind you are through the line. I swear it won’t take very long to...” it was only then that she actually took a good look at the flirt that was in front of her and recognized his face all too quickly. She could feel her insides melting a little at the sight. He had always been so handsome...and that hadn’t changed in the years since she’d seen him, “...Eddie Carmichael.” She said softly, though she immediately blushed and cursed herself. Why did she say that? He probably didn’t even know she existed!
