Who: Dean Thomas, Seamus Finnigan, Ron Weasley, Neville Longbottom
What: Celebratory Drinks
When: Tonight
Where: Pub Crawl
Rating/Warning: TBA

Dean leaned against the bar at the Leaky Cauldron and waited for his mates to show up. It had been a long day - he'd spent it mostly looking in to a few things that the twins had showed him towards in regards to getting that shop space in Memorial Alley - but he'd been looking forward to this all day. A pub crawl. There had been a few times he'd stumbled from bar to bar with his mates in New York, but honestly the yanks never really did it properly.

"Beer, Tom!" He called, sitting down a few knuts and grinning at the old barkeep. More and more he was finding that he liked that there were things that hadn't changed.

Dean laughed at the suggestion, shaking his head. "Head of Gryffindor, it's a sodding travesty, but I guess if it had to be one of us it had to - " He trailed off then, looking surprised. "No women for me? Why the sodding hell not, mate? I mean, none for Ron, obviously, but I should at least get the chance. Unless you're stealing them all for yourself? One last oat sowing and all that?"

"Can we not talk about Neville's oat-sowing?" Ron said, making a bit of a face and taking a swig off his beer. "You'll lose him his job before he even starts." He gave Dean a reproachful look, fighting back a grin. "Yeah, why the hell not? What'd you do? Leave someone in the States?" He gave Neville a nod, and his smile broke through in spite of his efforts. "That's right." It was nice that some things had changed - stabilized, anyway.

Neville lowered his glass and looked from Dean to Ron and then back to Dean, "But...but you moved in with Seamus and the way you two were talking....oh Merlin, have I gone and put my foot in it! I thought...I thought..," and Neville felt the color rising in his face, "I thought you liked men Dean," and he braced himself, "Oh Merlin! I'm sorry! You can have all the girls, honestly," he said, as he tried to cover up his mistake by taking a long drink from his glass.

Neville was growing mortified, and he didn't stop drinking until his glass was empty and he put it down on the bar. He wiped his mouth with his sleeve and waved to the bartender, "More drinks, so if I make an ass of myself I can blame the booze," and he tried not to look at Dean, "I'm not going to get fired. Severus is my new mate," he said, feeling the beer almost right away.

look at me arriving on time!

"Aye, don't be calling him your new mate so soon," Seamus said as he approached the table with a round of firewhiskey for the lot of them. Seamus arrived late, as he had some paperwork he had to finish with the bloke who was seeing Big Foot (well, mostly his son, because he had to convince some hag with the Wizengamot that the kid was just being a kid and that he meant no harm and didn't need to be expelled from Hogwarts). But that didn't mean he couldn't arrive late in style.

"Sorry I'm late, had to finish up some bloody paper work. But anyway Nev, congratulations on the new position," he said, giving him a giant bear hug and a lip-smacking kiss to the top of his head. "Don't be getting all chummy with Snape too quickly. You may have a friend in the castle yet." He hadn't heard from Snape officially about the Transfiguration position, but he figured that he was desperate if he was asking Hermione to be a teacher. Seamus was under the impression that he wasn't fond of Gryffindors from their year, especially those who associated themselves with Harry.

"Just in time!" Dean laughed, pulling Seamus into the group and shaking his head to get him to stop talking about why he was late. "Neville here was just telling us how he thought you and I were in love and shagging like rabbits..." Then he trailed off, pushing his mate away a little. "You're going to Hogwarts too? Sodding hell."

Neville was still red, and now a bit dazed from the drink he'd just downed, "That's not fair," he said in a weak protest, "I just thought...and it seemed like..oh bother! So I'm off the mark. What else is new?" he said, even as he turned to Seamus, accepting the kiss on the head and his eyes got big.

"You'll be there as well?! Bloody hell, Seamus! Talk to me! What's the job?" and he reached for his own glass as he tried to press one on Ron, "What about you, Ron? You going to come work at Hogwarts any time soon? Maybe you should come be the Quidditch coach," and Neville was utterly serious.
