Who: Dean and OPEN
What: Run In
Where: Memorial Park
When: Now!
Rating/Warning: TBA

It had been four years since Dean had been in Diagon Alley - in England at all - and he hadn't expected to be so surprised by the changes. He'd been in contact with Seamus. He'd known about the changes. But that didn't make it any less surreal that he was sitting in a place that hadn't existed the last time he'd been home. He sat thinking about that for a few minutes, picking up a stray Prophet and quickly putting it down again when it made his head hurt - at least some things never changed.

After the last owl from Seamus, though, he stood up with a grin and picked up his satchel, starting to make his way out of the park and back down the Alley to the Three Broomsticks.

Ellie knew all about Memorial Park since her dad had a lot to do with it. But knowing about it and having ever being there were two different things and this was definitely the first time that Ellie had ever bothered going. She knew that the big unveiling was happening soon, but she didn't want to be there for that. It would be too crowded and she had a lot to do. It was easier to go now and walk around and remember verses when a group was there. She'd come back sometime once the statue was unveiled.

Of course she had another reason for being out and about besides the park and her arms were full of blueprints to the building she wanted and zoning rules and reports as well as estimates to what it'd take to make the building how she'd need it. She got distracted when one of her papers tried to fly away from her and she reached out, grasping for it and managed to plow into someone and down she went, her papers fluttering everywhere.

"Ouch. Oh crap!" She didn't even glance to see who she'd run into and if she'd knocked them down. Instead she quickly flipped herself onto her hands and knees and started snatching at her papers to prevent them from blowing away.

It could have been anyone who bumped into him, and Dean would have been quick to help. As it was, it was a pretty girl and he dropped his own bag and immediately started helping to catch the papers that were threatening to completely disappear.

"Sorry about that," he said, holding them out to her after he'd picked up what he thought was the last one. As he looked a little more closely, there was... something. He should remember her, right? He knew he'd seen her before.

It didn't take but a moment for the fact that she'd slammed into someone else to penetrate Ellie's mind and she flushed in embarrassment that she was more worried about her papers then the potential hurt she might have brought her unfortunate victim. She really ought to be more worried about the guy she'd ran into.

"Ah, yeah. I'm sorry too. I really should have been paying better attention." She glanced up from her position on the ground and grinned at the man. Now that she looked at him though... "You look really familiar."

"Yeah, yeah... you too..." He grinned an easy, wide sort of grin and then reached for her arm to help her up off the ground. "Dean Thomas. When were you at Hogwarts? Not in my year, I'd remember, but maybe a few years below me or something?"

Ellie couldn't help but continue to grin back at the man as he helped pull her up. She readjusted her grip on her papers and made an 'ah' noise under her breath when he introduced himself. "Ellie Cattermole. I was a year under you in Hufflepuff. I remember all the banners you made for the Quidditch games though."

"Oh! You were in the same year with Drew Summers, yeah?" He'd been a sort of friend, that year, but Dean hadn't exactly been very focused seventh year, truth be told. "Here's your... papers. Sorry, they're a bit of mess now, yeah?"

"That I was!" She'd always been amused by Drew when he was in a bubbly, happy mood and it made her wonder just what he was up to now. "Thanks, but I'm pretty sure they've been a bit of a mess for a while. I keep riffling through them." Thinking about the papers and his artistic abilities made an idea pop into her head and she regarded Dean thoughtfully. "Do you still draw?"

Dean blinked at the change of subject, but then nodded. "Sure. Paint now, more than draw, but I still sketch. I went to art school... just coming back home from it, actually, I was in the States." And that brief conversation pretty much summarized the last five years of Dean's life, really. He wasn't sure if that was sad or not. "What are you doing now?"

Ellie really felt like doing some sort of happy, crazy dance when he stated he was still doing art. She held back though because she was quite certain that it would probably freak Dean out and he'd beat a hasty retreat and she so needed to have this conversation with him. "I'm actually in the process of opening up a business. A magical daycare, to be exact and I could really use your talents down the road."

"Oh," Dean thought they'd been catching up - nice run in on a streetcorner and all - and he blinked a bit when he realized it was business, maybe, but then grinned. "Well, sure, just let me know. Magical Daycare? That sounds like a lot of fun."

She hadn't intended for the conversation to turn to business, but then she hadn't intended to actually run into someone and have a conversation. It was interesting how a day could go. "Great! That's one less thing I'll have to hunt around for. Of course we should get together sometime and talk about it all and hash out details like pay and everything, but yeah." She was quite certain she was smiling quite a bit. "And it should be great, once I get it going. Right now it's just a lot of work."

"I bet." Dean said with a grin, then he looked around. "Well, I think that's all your papers. I'm actually on my way to hit up Seamus and find a place on his couch for a while. But whenever you're ready for me to do some work for you, just owl and I'll come by."
