The unexpected presence of another voice startled Eloise, but physically it barely registered. Her limbs twitched sharply and she tried to shift her weight, though it didn't help much. It was hard for her to imagine that this wasn't a new threat. She managed to twist her head to the side and raised one of her arms heavily. These first movements, though painful, made Eloise think that she might be able to move after all. Just...slowly.
Squinting through the darkness, and noticing that her eyes were clouded over with tears, she made out a shape drawing nearer. The voice was familiar. And not for a bad reason. She didn't think so. She began to speak but found she had to clear her throat first.
"I-" Her throat felt so raw, and her voice was hoarse and quavering. Feeling utterly defenseless, she sought to make out the other's face. "No...I'm-"
