Characters: Trevor Scabior and Gretchen Watkins
Setting: Tuesday evening at Trevor's house in Hogsmeade
Summary: Trevor makes the best of an unfortunate work situation and finds a couple trinkets to share with his mate.
Rating/Warning: I'd say TBD but it's Trev so there will definitely be cursing and drinking at least.
With a crack, Trevor Apparated into his living room and made a beeline for the kitchen. "Gretch!" He shouted, wondering where she was or if she was even in the place. "C'mon!" he whined as he pulled a bottle of beer from the fridge and used the counter to pry the top off, flipping it onto the counter.
He'd left abruptly that afternoon when he got an owl from one of his contacts, snatching a mudblood that had gotten word somehow his cover was blown before the filth could escape. The bounty was always worth the trouble but the man's hideout had offer little in the way of bonus compensation. If it hadn't been for a couple little treasures he had discovered on his way out he wouldn't have had a thing to distract himself from the fact there was a crack in what had served as a flawless system up to this point. Someone in his small circle had fucked up or, worse, couldn't be trusted anymore and that was not a comforting or tolerable thought at all. But he only worked with so many people and going down a list of suspects wouldn't be too difficult.
He walked back into the living room with his drink and fell onto the couch to wait for his partner in crime to drag herself downstairs. Trev kicked his feet up onto the table and raised his fist as Gretchen took a spot beside him. In it was clasped something shiny which, once he let go of it and let it drop to the end of it's chain, turned out to be a pocket watch of some sort. "Look at this," he said, grinning at the woman beside him and letting the watch swing back and forth. Trevor pulled his feet down and leaned scooted sideways to show off his new find.
"This is brilliant, see," he pressed a button to flip open the watch's cover. One side looked like any other magical timepiece covered with a variety of symbols, dials and arms. The other side, instead of silver like the watch itself, looked almost liquid, with a colour that seemed to move from black to blue to purple with a distinct iridescent sheen. As far as Trevor had been able to tell the watch functioned like most high calibre magical watches he'd seen. It kept track of time, astronomical shifts, locations, schedules and he was pretty sure the tiny dial on the bottom of the face was designed to be some sort of sneakoscope as it had howled for twenty minutes before he'd managed to recharm it.
He explained everything, ignoring the unusual paint job on the other side, for Gretchen but sported a grin the whole that gave away he was still saving the best for last.
