Who: Roger Davies & George Weasley
When: 28th March, 1998 (Backdated - After this!)
Where: Second WWW Shop
What: George called Roger ugly. This cannot stand.
Rating: PG-13

So when people said that Roger Davies was vain, Roger didn't protest it. It was true. He took a great deal of pride in his appearance because what else did people expect from him? Talented and handsome, that Roger Davies. So he bought into his own hype and when it was challenged, he quickly worked to run off any suggestions that he wasn't handsome or talented.

It was terribly shallow of him, sure, but he wasn't all that deep of a guy.

Upon closing up for the night, Roger used the Floo network to get over to the second WWW shop. Arriving there within seconds, he shook off the slight nausea that always accompanied Floo travel for him, before walking off in search of George.

George needed to be taught a lesson. And Angelina had shown him, through past experience, what to do.

"Well, you wave it about. Hard to miss. Especially when it was getting all giant-sized, while you were benched for flying into things like a twat," George answered.

His eyes narrowed, and then George smirked. Roger was asking for it. Sod him, then.

He plonked himself down on Roger's lap, squirming enough that it was probably either very uncomfortable, or a little too comfortable, and leaning to read over his shoulder. "It was probably the supply company twit. Or Verity. Maybe once you're with sprog, you forget how to read properly."

Roger almost jumped up in surprise, which would have left George meeting the floor in an ungraceful leap. He managed to catch himself before doing that, out of sheer stubbornness to prove something to George, even if he wasn't exactly sure what that something was now.

Instead, he placed his free hand on George's hip and held him still as possible, despite how uncomfortable it was having George on his lap. Whether he was uncomfortable because he didn't want George on his lap or uncomfortable because he liked it, he wouldn't tell.

Clearing his throat before speaking, he asked, "Verity's pregnant?" It was news to him, but that would explain her moodiness. Or maybe that was just because she seemed to dislike him. His wondering came to a screeching halt at another realization.

"Wait, is it Fred's?"

George had sort of expected to be dumped out of Roger's lap, and the hand on his hip instead surprised him. He wasn't sure when this had turned into him trying to make Roger back down because he was a teasing git. But that's where it sort of was. So he'd been braced to be shoved out, and turned his head to peer suspiciously at Roger when that didn't happen.

Well. Fine then. He just squirmed again, and then stopped.

Oh. Crap.

It was highly possible that he shouldn't have said that. "Ermm. . . ." George shot Roger a quick glare. "Who else's is it going to be? Wait - unless she's shagging around? Did she shag you? Maybe it's yours." George had no problem with shagging around. But shagging around without telling Fred it might not be his brat was different. "Oh, and I probably shouldn't have told you, so shut up," he added belatedly. He'd forgotten Davies was probably too hammered to remember that getting announced.

Okay, so there was only so much squirming he could take before having some kind of reaction. Whether it had been a woman or George, sitting on his lap, it wouldn't have mattered. The reaction would have been the same and George probably was feeling it right then. "Stop that," he snapped with a embarrassed flush working its way up his neck, squeezing George's hip in warning.

His glare melted into a surprised sort of look. "What? Me? No, I think I'd remember shagging her." The twins would never have to worry about Roger and Verity. "Don't worry, I won't say anything. But Merlin. Fred as a dad? You as an uncle?" Obviously, this was blowing Roger's mind just a little bit. "Congratulations, I suppose. Now get off me."

He hadn't realized how uncomfortable this would get, when George had first plopped down on him.

George couldn't help but grin, little flash of what he decided was victory, and not anything else going through him. "Aww. Davies. You do care," he answered, batting his eyes and giving his cheek a smacking kiss, squirming a last time before he gave in, starting to slide out of Roger's lap. That, he decided, was a win. Why, he wouldn't have been able to say. But it was a win, anyway.

He grimaced. "Yeah, congratulations to me," he answered, a bit sourly. "I'll get to be uncle and best man and all that rubbish, probably. If we don't manage to blow up the baby on accident." George wasn't thrilled about the baby. He never liked when there was any major difference between him and his twin. One as a daddy and one not was a pretty big difference.

Okay, so now he wasn't going to be able to get up without embarrassing himself further. Wonderful, Roger thought as he cross his legs and basically refused to react to that smacking kiss on his cheek from George.

Pain in the arse, that George. He could have his victory so long as he didn't sit on him again.

"They're getting married too?" He hadn't thought of Fred OR George as the marrying and settling down type, but apparently he had been wrong. And it seemed like George had thought the same too, because he looked a little upset.

Despite knowing George would probably notice the erection that had managed to sneak up on Roger when he got up, Roger got up and placed a hand on George's shoulder. "Are you okay?" He had clearly missed something, but he could see that George wasn't happy.

"Not yet," George answered, still sounding less than thrilled. Marriage and monogamy and all of that hadn't even come up in conversation, that George knew about. But when it came to family, George - and Fred - were a big old fashioned. They'd been raised by a married, in-love couple and in George's mind, that was usually how that sort of thing worked. So he expected to hear about marriage, and rings, and Fred moving in with the little bloody woman, eventually. Which made him annoyed, because otherwise he might be morose about it, and George refused to mope. It wasn't even a little fun.

His eyes dropped, looking at the front of Roger's trousers and then giving him a knowing, deeply smug smirk. But he didn't mention it, at least. "Yeah. Not me that has to worry about a sprog, or anything."

Roger refused to drop his gaze or do anything more than flush a little darker, which was involuntary no matter how many times he chanted in his mind, 'Don't blush, don't blush...' But if George was going to let him get away without mentioning it, he was going to run with that.

Even if he wanted to kick him.

Dropping his hand, Roger finally averted his eyes and leaned up against a nearby table. Crossing his arms, as if that would somehow protect him from that smug look of George's, he asked, "Then why do you sound upset?"

He was blushing. George really wanted to crow about it and usually he would have. But thoughts about preggers shopgirls (the one that didn't actually have a prick), and his brother and such were distracting enough that he let it go. Again. Which might be a record for George. Though he still smirked. Again.

George also refused to notice that Davies, who really wasn't at all frog faced, was kind of attractive when he started to turn red. Bugger him, anyway.

He shrugged finally in answer. "It's just shite is all. Like Fredders is ready to play dad. And now we'll have to hire a new shopgirl." Which was the worst excuse ever. "And I'm not upset, anyway. Just a bit brassed."

"You looked upset," Roger insisted, refusing to drop it quite that easily. He didn't want this to somehow turned into a hostile work environment because the twins were angry with one another. He liked working for them. It made paying the rent a little easier and they were fun.

He let his arms drop so that he could grip the edge of the table he was leaning against. "Come on, would I really still be here if I didn't want to talk about it?"

Because he saw that stupid smirk on his gingery face and that knowing look in his eyes.

George didn't talk about feelings very well. Or at all. He deflected conversations about how he FELT onto safer topics. Or topics that were more entertaining. Such as the state of Roger's pants.

He really only had himself to blame for George turning it back on him, he reasoned. Since he'd been the one to push. "I don't know. You came over here to snog me. I figured you were just working out whether or not you had to get me drunk to get me in bed." George grinned. "It would probably help. I mean I usually have standards when sober, you know. So a few drinks first and then we'll see."

Annoyed, Roger picked up the closest thing he could throw without permanently disfiguring George's grinning face. It happened to be a quill, which didn't give the most satisfying sound when it hit, but drained some of his annoyance.

"You're deflecting," Roger said, before adding unnecessarily, "And I wouldn't have to get you drunk and you know it." Roger was, however, sure that he would have to be drunk to ever attempt that. Not that he wanted to. Really.

George tried to dodge, but Roger was quick. The quill bounced off his forehead, and George yelped theatrically. "OI! Do you see me heaving things at you? Even though you assaulted me with your frog mouth?"

George made a face at him. "Not much to say about it really. I mean she's knocked up, so can't undo it, and Fredders and her will have to work it out." George would make it up with Fred sooner rather than later probably. The twins didn't function separately for long. It was probably the longest they'd gone without forgetting they were brassed at each other, anyway.

He snorted. "Is this one of those things where you try to get me to argue, and then you have an excuse to drag me into bed, so you can pretend you're only actually shagging me to prove that I'd shag you? Because you'd still be poncy, if that happened. Just so you know."

"It's not assault, if you wanted it." Roger was a Chaser. A very good Chaser. It wasn't surprising that he was fast and had a good enough aim to get George. Though getting him in the forehead? Was a bonus. Roger had been aiming for his chest.

Making a frustrated noise, he pushed himself away from the table and got in George's personal space again. "I'm not sure how your mind works George, but there will be no shagging. Does that disappoint you?"

Smiling, he leaned away a little before brushing past George deliberately. Walking toward the fireplace in a slightly hunched way, he called back, "Owl me when you want to really talk."

"You have no proof that I did, froggy," George answered. I was possible his attempt to evade the quill were what had managed to get him quill-to-the-head instead of to the chest in the first place, but he wasn't going to admit that, either.

Also, conversations where he was giving Roger a hard time would be easier to focus on if he would stay a little further away, just at the moment. "Not really. I mean, I'd have kicked your arse out of bed anyway." Possibly AFTER there'd been some naked. But there was no feasible reason to say that.

He also didn't lean in at all when Roger brushed in close past him. No matter what Davies might claim. "Yeah, fine. See you. Big, stealth-kissing ponce. You just want to take off to go have a wank anyway." He watched Roger go though, and considered flinging the quill at his back.

There was no good way to respond to George at that moment, but he settled for raising his middle finger in farewell as he continued to walk to the fireplace. "And I'll be thinking of you the whole time!"

Pinching a bit of Floo powder in between his forefinger and thumb, he flung it into the fireplace and watched the flames spring up. Stepping into the flames, he disappeared before George decided he would throw the quill back at him.
