Who: Teagan Moran & Jae Troy
Where: 6th April, 1998
Where: Their Flat!
What: Jae comes home late one night, mind on Gringotts, before Teagan shows up and forces him to consider a whole new set of problems.
Rating: PG-13

Ten hour workdays were not uncommon in Troy's life. They were the norm rather than the exception because of the recent turnover at Gringotts. And now with the vault break-in? Well, it was lucky that they even let him go home occasionally. Gringotts might have not been open that day, but there was so much to do to get security back on track and the bank running smoothly. If that hadn't been stressful enough, the interrogation that everyone had been put through had been absolutely horrible.

It was doubly horrible for Muggleborns, for each of them had been accused of criminal acts in connection to the vault theft. Luckily, with no proof whatsoever, no arrests had been made from the staff. Yet.

By the time Jae got home that night, it was late and his roommates were supposedly asleep. He saw that someone had left some dinner out for him when he walked into the kitchen and he smiled gratefully. Jae hadn't been looking forward to digging into the fridge for leftovers and now he wouldn't have to. Warming up his food with a wave of his wand, he dumped his work satchel on the kitchen table before sitting down in front of his food to tuck in.

As he ate, he felt some of his sore muscles starting to relax now that he wasn't in his cubicle, hunched over paperwork while worrying about whether or not he would be arrested because of his blood background.

It wasn't long before he was finished. Standing to wash the dishes the Muggle way, his mind further wandered back to work. He would need to owl Leigh and talk over about whether it would be better or not for some of the band to house their accounts elsewhere. Gringotts was becoming quite a bit unfriendly toward Muggleborns, even if they were good customers.

And the Weasleys. Now that he had been in country for awhile, he knew that the Weasleys were a key figure in this political battle in England. He would have to owl them and see to maybe getting them to move their accounts. Because he didn't see himself sticking around Gringotts for much longer and he rather not lose his two biggest clients.

Finishing with the dishes, he moved to pick up his satchel and head to his room.

"Hey, you managed the rent by yourself all this time. Pretend I never moved in and it will just be like old times." If only things had worked out that way. If he had been able to stay at the bank in Ireland, he would have never come to England and consider giving up his job. Yes, he had the bonus of living in something that wasn't a shoebox like his old flat and living with Teagan wasn't bad at all, but losing his job because of bigotry and fear?

Yeah, even the bonuses weren't worth that.

"I never saw Quidditch as a career choice," he said with a shrug. "Honestly, I don't find it half as thrilling as some of you guys." It had been his way of proving that he was, simply, good at everything. Intelligent and athletic. Those were the things that got you noticed at a school like Beauxbatons and he had always vied to be the best.

It was an annoying quirk of his, to say the least.

"One real game ever four years is fine with me."

Quidditch was quite possibly the most important thing in Teagan's life. Aside from her family, which she had to care about, and the few good friends she managed to keep over the years, Quidditch was the only real passion she had. There was just something about it that made her feel her happiest. There were moments her father's critiques could stir at her, but even still, she knew she was doing what she was good at.

It was hard for her to comprehend that someone else couldn't feel the same way about it.

"Well, then I suppose that is out of the question then," she said, leaning her head back against the couch. "Maggie is still thinking about going in for that stupid registration. You're not- are you?"

"If I stay at Gringotts much longer, I'm going to have to. I won't have any choice," he explained, pulling his legs away from her and sitting up properly again. "I'm going to talk to Mags about it too, but if I end up sticking around, too many people at work know that I'm Muggleborn. It'd be a stupid risk to take by not reporting it."

Which was stupid, having to register his Muggleborn status, but what choice did he really have? He was surprised that no one was knocking his door down already for not registering. Jae supposed that the wrong ears hadn't heard yet.

"But hey, don't worry about it," he said, smiling at her. "It's not your concern. I'll figure it out."
