"I do, Luce," he said, not looking at her because he knew that if he saw how embarrassed she was, he would have quit it. But he was determined to find out...to find out...well, he wasn't entirely sure what he wanted to find out about Nikolas. Ultimately, Roger wanted to know if Nikolas would ever put Lucy in harm's way or hurt her in the end. If she was as serious about this bloke as Roger thought she might have been, then he wanted to be sure there was nothing to worry about.
It was hard to be overprotective when he wasn't living under the same roof as her, but it was possible.
Cocking an eyebrow, Roger met Nikolas' look straight on without a flinch. "They stem from the same kind of thinking. If you were in my shoes, Vasiey, you'd see where I was coming from. I don't want to be worrying about Lucy and, forgive me for saying so, but most Slytherins I've met come from the same kind of intolerant household that Malfoys have crawled out from."
