In the back of Lucy's mind, she'd had an inkling that the lunch would result in some sort of awkward situation. She had become prone to putting herself in such events and had become fairly used to their occurrence. However, she'd never expected Roger to come out with it, as he did. She pursed her lips as her hands clutched at the pint glass in front of her.
She looked toward Nikolas, trying to figure out the best way to diffuse the situation. But as Roger spoke again, Lucy's eyes bulged slightly.
A hot sensation crept up the back of her neck. No doubt, she was as pink as could be as Roger divulged what she had told him about the arrangement.
"Roger-" she began, but then cut herself off. There was no use yelling at him just then. Instead, she looked to him with a rather abashed look. "You don't really have to do this.."
