It was amazing how quickly time had passed since Suki had found herself in Winterdale. The world itself was strange and took some getting used to; honestly, she was glad to stay to the woods for the most part and avoid the cities. The technology was interesting and all, but she had no desire to surround herself with it. Besides, the Orrinshire woods were beautiful, and they could all easily live there for as long as they needed to. It wasn't any different than surviving anywhere else they'd been, and it was a great deal more friendly than the Fire Nation. It was… odd, and she was still wary of having Azula around, but they had found Aang, and that had been the goal in coming there in the first place. So far there had been no major disasters — or minor ones — so she was going to count that as a win.
Suki sighed as she settled on a rock; she had abandoned her shoes and dipped her feet into the cool water, enjoying the moment of quiet. She loved all her friends, but they were a group full of personalities, and that tended to get loud. Sometimes a girl just needed to breathe for a moment, and that was all she wanted, a few minutes to gather her thoughts. She missed her fellow warriors, of course; she missed the training, and the camaraderie and familiarity, but she had started to feel like something of an older sister to the group here, too. It was nice, how they were own strange little family. They had time, they could figure everything out. They would. They had to.
She leaned back on her hands and took a deep breath, took the moment to just enjoy being there. If she was needed she'd be easy to find, so she let her thoughts drift along with the river, calmer on the surface and letting the more troublesome ones run deeper for another time. Suki wasn't sure how much time had passed before she heard footsteps rustling through the woods behind her. "Over here if you're looking for me!" she called, taking a quick glance to make certain it was someone she knew before she relaxed again. There was always a slim chance someone would discover them, but so far they'd managed to avoid that.
