Bucky hadn't left his apartment in days.
It took him awhile to make the connection between his simple wish to have all of his memories back and the fact that his head began hurting the next day. He hadn't eaten, hadn't slept, as one by one each and every single thing that HYDRA had wiped out of his head returned, along with a migraine so terrible he'd thrown up three times. He'd finally crawled into bed, dropping onto the mattress on the floor and shaking and shivering with what felt like a fever. In reality, he was fairly certain it was just because he was so overwhelmed; information overload.
He still wasn't feeling the best when he forced himself to shower, get dressed, and get onto the train.
He needed to see Steve. He was fairly sure, between the text messages -- which had gone from brief and friendly -- to very concerned (and yes, he could tell the difference now, with no trouble at all) that the only thing that had staved off Steve coming to see him to see if he was okay, was his curt message back that he was fine, he just needed some time alone. In truth he hadn't wanted Steve to see him like that, curled up and probably looking like death warmed over.
Bucky spotted Natasha's illusive cat even as he approached the porch, and to his surprise, she didn't run away, instead watching him intently, probably wondering why there was a stranger on her porch.
He reached out and knocked.
