Annoying was some kind of understatement if you were to ask him. To be honest, Iwaizumi wanted no part of it, but his vigilance stood for little in the end. Big surprise. It might have been nice to be more of the mentality to just enjoy it, but he found that somewhat difficult when he just couldn’t bring himself to be. When he was impossibly hung up on someone who swung between untouchable and unobtainable. Either he got caught up on a fear of screwing up their friendship or he couldn’t bring himself to open his mouth and say what he wanted to say. It was like that even before coming here. You would think it would be easy to say: ’I came here for you’ and everything that came with it… but it never came easily, because that made it real.
Really they were both thick in the head. Oikawa wasn’t wrong. He wasn’t interested in girls, though preference might have had little to do with it at all. It was Oikawa. His best friend. His partner. The indifference he showed towards dating himself and yet that he bristled whenever Oikawa had someone new on his arm spoke something that neither of them took real notice to. And yeah, Oikawa did warn him, which meant he wasn’t going to hear the end of it even more now.
That was a shared sentiment. Iwa had thought about it before, sure. Then buried those thoughts down until they inevitably bubbled up again at the most annoying of times, pulling at Iwa’s heartstrings and testing his resolve. There was no real denying how he felt in the long run. He left home and everything he knew to follow a boy who he couldn’t stand living without. The quiet excitement was shared… until, as usual, something came up to get in the way and dash his efforts to see what was between them. It left Iwa staring down the hall in disbelief as his classmate walked away, dreading exactly the fit that was bubbling up from Oikawa just then. It wasn’t like he was looking to disappoint either of them here, but of course… Oikawa had to act like he was putting him out on purpose.
Heaving a sigh, he reached up to push his fingers through his hair, trying to steady his mood before Oikawa being dramatic got to him. “Yeah, I asked you to come up here just to personally inconvenience you,” he shot a glare back, but it hardly had any bite to it, his arms folding over his chest in the same haughty manner as the other boy. “Why they hell would I do that, dumbass?” There he was falling into old habits again, but come on why would he do that? He’d said he didn’t want to do that. “Oh yeah, I totally just grabbed the next person I saw, just to make you miss lunch. You figured my whole plan out…” He rolled his eyes and leaned his shoulder against the wall, not really trying to take their bickering all over the place.
“A classmate. I didn’t ask her to and I sure as hell didn’t like it.” Iwa meanwhile did nothing to hide his tone and the mark of irritation there, shaking his head a little. “Come on… I’ll buy you lunch to make up for it,” he offered, deflating some with a huff. There wasn’t much else to do now besides… move on like always.
