In the few weeks Wanda spent here, she came to have as much understanding of how this place worked as anyone else. Winterdale existed outside of certain natural laws, she figured that much out rather quickly. Truly, that was simple in it's mechanics alone. The dead could walk again here. People from the same places often came from different points in time. Exactly why that was seemed more difficult to say. No one spoke of their reasons very openly, it seemed to simply be an accepted circumstance. Deeper beneath, Wanda questioned more of how this place must operate. To go without being acknowledged by the outside world, have the ability to keep the inhabitants here unless their departure is wished for, and to accommodate the people as they did, this Ruler must be a powerful being indeed.
Wanda knew all about that.
This wasn't like Westview, but that didn't mean there wasn't something distinctly strange about it that she wanted to know more about. In time, she would test more than how freely she could use her own magic without consequence. The only way anyone got to her was by pressing on the borders of what she created. Maybe the same thing needed to happen here. Wanda's focus right now was much more immediate. After spending weeks in these woods, pouring over the Darkhold she brought along with her, Pietro was here.
Mind you, Wanda was aware of the other Avengers present in Winterdale. In time, she intended to approach them, it was just that the time wasn't now. Pietro has been missing from her life for two years. Much happened since then, so much that was missed by the person who felt like the other half of herself in the way only a twin could. How was she to tell him that she had to go on without him? That after bringing the universe back from selective destruction by a madman, she lost her senses and entrapped an entire town with her magic so she could be with her love again. Vision... oh, Vision was a whole other issue to talk to Pietro about.
One thing at a time.
Only Pietro knew where her cabin was nestled in the forest. For the time being she put up the Darkhold and her reading via astral projection. Pietro was nosey, she knew that all too well. There was no need to give reasons to make more explanations early on than necessary. One thing at a time. It wouldn't be like a sitcom where the problem arose and found resolution by the end of the episode. This would be difficult. It would be painful. She could only hope they would be better at the end.
Underneath the shock and need to reach out and grasp at something which had been so far out of her reach there did linger suspicion. She was tricked by a fake Pietro before. She would know when she saw him. While she waited, Wanda paced. She couldn't help it. She was anxious. When she heard the knock... and a familiar voice in a familiar accent. Opening the door, Wanda peered out around the edge to look at him.
"It's you." This was the Pietro she remembered. The one who excitedly sprawled onto the floor with her to watch television with their parents. Who spent long nights covering up the sounds of gunfire and turmoil with smiles and laughter as much as was possible. Already the back of her eyes pricked with the oncoming of welling tears the longer she looked at him. She didn't want to give him all this bad news she had pent up over two years. Could she, she would spare him that with what they had already gone through.
"With you, I've always shared everything," she laughed despite the tears which started to fall from her eyes though she tried to stop them. She reached out, tugging Pietro closer by the fabric of his shirt until she could wrap her arms around him in a tight hug. It had been too long since she could.
"Come, drinks first. News after." She dabbed her eyes with her sleeve over his shoulder before pulling back to hook her arm under his elbow and tug him inside with the best smile she could muster. She was happy, more so than she had been in a long time... though the pessimistic side of her questioned how long it would last. Now wasn't the time for that. Now was the time for drinks and enjoying that her Pietro was here.
