Gardening was just one of many things that Kita had found oddly therapeutic. There was something about smoothing the dirt, sowing the seeds, and letting time and nature handle the rest. Despite assuming that starting over could be a good thing, old habits died hard. He still found himself pulling on his gloves daily, making sure things were clean and taken care of. His room was tidy and his studies came first, but finding out about this little club and meet some new friends. It was admittedly nice. A lot calmer than being on a powerhouse team who consistently was expected to perform.
So, he got ready to meet Tohru, packing up a few simple prepackaged snacks he'd picked up on one of his first days on campus and a couple bottles of tea. He didn't know how long they'd be working, but he assumed it was better to have something rather than nothing to offer. He didn't know Tohru's habits yet, or if she would have eaten yet. Of course, if she suddenly had her stomach start to growl, he'd take her to get more proper food, but for now, some snacks and gloves seemed like all he'd need.
He'd made it first, something he wasn't too surprised by, and he simply went about checking the plants that were already growing from other people, looking for any negative signs or too dry soil. He looked up with a soft smile when he heard Tohru enter and call to him. Her voice was so soft, very soothing, the kind of girl it felt impossible to dislike. He might not have known her for long, but she seemed the type his grandmother would approve of. "Hello, Honda-san." He nodded, giving a soft laugh before ducking to grab a water can. "I also brought some things in case we wanted them, you can set yours by my bag over there. I also have some extra gloves if you need them."
