Just the word date got Asahi to blush. It felt like someone as amazing would have been on enough dates not to be embarrassed, but this was Asahi. Shy and reserved and way too cute for Noya not to try to make up for the year they knew each other without dating. Of course, pining after Kiyoko with Tanaka had taken up some of his time. She was really pretty too, but she wasn’t for him. Noya didn’t put everything on hold for her, or get kind of crazy passionate about needing Asahi to play on the team again.
Man, he was lucky Asahi didn’t think Noya was too much for him. He was pretty sure this euphoria was going to get him through anything now. Were his cheeks hurting? Maybe, but it was worth it.
Then Asahi had leaned forward and Noya’s heart leapt. It was a soft kiss, with Asahi’s hand was in his hair. That was really nice, and somehow unexpected even if they had just confessed to each other. Now Noya was the one who felt demure for a moment. He wanted to tug and touch and taste, but it was a lot to ask of the other all at once. More than anything he just wanted Asahi, really.
He pushed himself up to his toes, some eager compromise with himself. Asahi wouldn’t need to bend over quite so much. And Noya could reach up, arms at Asahi’s shoulders and looped behind his neck so could hold the other and keep himself upright. This was a deeper kiss, one Noya could get lost in a little too easily.
After another moment his heels touched the ground again and he blinked back at Asahi with an open, giddy expression. “Wow,” he breathed. “You’re totally a babe. Maybe a Sweet Stuff.”
Being able to concentrate on anything else today would be a miracle. Maybe he didn’t have to if Asahi stayed with him. Noya didn’t want to unravel from him just yet. “If we find someplace warm we could keep doing this too,” Noya suggested with a small grin. Maybe being too public with their affection wouldn’t be in the cards for Asahi, but Noya already knew he wouldn’t mind it at all.
