It took a moment for Eiji to process the question. Maybe he hadn’t heard it right, or this funny version of Oikawa was just playing with him. It was difficult to tell, but Eiji was typically so honest it wouldn’t have changed his answer either way. If it sounded like they were lovers to Demon-san… what did Oikawa think of that?
“We’re friends,” he insisted. Not just friends, because that felt like he would be belittling something Eiji knew was so important. Best friends couldn't work either. They hadn’t known each other very long, but maybe someday it would be an appropriate thing to say outloud instead of just in Eiji's head.
He balled his hands up under his sleeves, then moved them under his chin as if he were in some sort of thinking pose when upright. It was strange to answer these questions as if Oikawa before tonight and the boy in front of him were different people. Maybe it made Demon-san more comfortable to separate them.
“We’re going to see snow too,” he added on to Oikawa’s list, wondering if it would jog the others memory. “And use a kotatsu. And have noodles. And go back to the bakery. We’ve never slept together before, though. I wonder if this counts.”
There was something funny about the idea now. If Oikawa didn’t remember what he had done as a demon when this Halloween arc came to an end, Eiji wondered if it would surprise him. Demon-san didn't seem to have a problem with it though, especially considering he had inched closer.
“Can I touch your horns?” Eiji asked, putting his hands on top of his own head and mimicking the shape. “They look pointy.”
