That was certainly a surprising declaration from the other boy – all because of what Eiji had said? He couldn’t quite decipher why it mattered so much. Didn’t they come here to pick up snacks and talk? Maybe it was the way Eiji had said he stayed up late so carelessly… like he didn’t take care of himself. But this was just how he liked to work on his manga. It was a normal thing by this point. He had to work this way while he was still in school...
A Choco Bun fell out of his arms, but Eiji kept looking at Oikawa like he was trying to read a foreign language. Was it that bad? Was Oikawa offended?
“I don’t just eat baked goods.” Maybe that was the problem. He had to clarify – “Sometimes it’s ramen. Or meat. Or juice. Or,” Oh. There was an unhealthy pattern, wasn’t there? He looked down at the pile in his arms, then up at Oikawa again, his expression more serious as he made up his mind.
“I’m sorry for eating poorly and going to bed late. I don’t want you to be upset.” He hoped that helped a little bit, though he wasn’t entirely sure what a normal bedtime was supposed to be. He didn’t want to promise the wrong thing, either. “It’s when I draw CROW,” He went on, picking up a few of the top pastries from his pile and putting them back into their place on the shelves. “When I start a new chapter, I don’t stop until it’s finished. It's very important to me.”
As for his height, well, he really just thought Oikawa was tall. “I didn’t eat enough milk bread,” he said, as sincere as he ever was, though there was a hint of something more playful in the nod that came after.
