There. Were. No. Trolley. Rides. King had specifically chosen the zoo because it had a trolley ride and he firmly believed that trolley rides were amazing, and he wanted to go on one, and he wanted Cordelia to go on one, but they were a month late. Not that walking was a great tragedy of Grecian proportions, but it certainly wasn’t being driven around the zoo on a trolley. It also took energy, which meant as they made their way around, King pretty much leading since he wanted to go see the lions, he had bought a bag of potato chips and was moving between eating them and wiping his fingers off on his jacket.
August, it was worthy of note, was nowhere to be seen. It was a zoo, and bloodhounds generally weren’t allowed.
“Now Scotland doesn’t have a lot of zoos, does it?” he asked, wiping his fingertips off on his jacket again as they rounded into the rather savannah-y section of the zoo. The weather had a bit of a crisp coolness to it, but some animals still braved it to run around or… sleep in large warm groups. “I think I told you I’ve been to Edinburgh, and I know there’s one in Edinburgh.” His pronunciation of the city was surprisingly spot on. “And they had penguins, I remember the penguins especially. Maybe we should go play with the penguins, they probably appreciate this weather better. In a few weeks they’ll be pleased as punch.”
It did seem that not as many of the savannah animals might be out as he would have liked, so King paused for a moment, stuffed his bag of chips into one pocket and pulled out his map of the zoo. It took him a moment to find where the penguins were. “Well what do you think? See if there are lions, or walk to the other side of the zoo to play with penguins?” He frowned a bit and looked up from the map to her. “This would be easier if there were a trolley.”
