The street faire was bustling with people and pride. Among the booths were flags and stickers and candies off all kinds. Games and activities were scattered around the booths. Cheerful and empowering music was alive in the air from speakers set up around the parking lot. Pastels's doors were wide open with menus hanging from them. The smell of cooking food wafted from the diner. Other sweet treats and festival confectioneries lined the walls of Pastels, where individual vendors were selling all sorts of on the go foods and drink.

Valkyrie was wandering, this was much more like the markets she was used to, stalls lining the streets, an array of cookies and smells everywhere.

Catcher had said she'd be able to find a flash here, so she headed over to one of the booths that appeared to be selling them, card in her pocket. She was still unused to the idea of a money card, but such was the common currency in this world.

She approached a stall with flags, seeing a face that seemed familiar.

Ryek was examining the wall of flags. He was on the hunt for a genderfluid one. He glanced to the other side of the stall and he noticed Val. "Hey! What's up girl!"

He took a break from looking at the flags to waltz over. He flashed her a wide smile. He was wearing, a pansexual pride shirt along with a colorful skirt. His eyes were done up with colorful pride make-up

"How ya doing?" Ryek asked as he leaned with all weight on one hip. He rested a hand on his hip.

Valkyrie noticed Ryek as he approached. She was unsure what to think of him, other than the fact that he seemed to be a helpful person, if extravagant.

"Hello, it is good to see you."

She was trying to puzzle out some of the flags. She knew the pink and orange one, along with the rainbow one, but they're were a few she wasn't sure about.

"I am well, just unsure if I should get one of the lesbian flags. What are you looking for?"

"Oh me? I'm mainly just looking around! Though I am looking for a genderfluid flag. I didn't even know they had a word for it til I got here. That's exciting isn't it?" Ryek absentmindedly chatted. He was used to being able to keep up a conversation while doing something else. It was tools of the trade, both in bar-tending and piracy. His eyes scanned the stalls as he spoke.

"If you want to get a flag go for it. If not then don't. It's really up to you now isn't it?" He looked back at Val with a cheeky smile, "It's your money after all."

"It is. I do not know what that means, but I am happy you have words. I could help you look, if you need? The stall that would have it would most likely have a lesbian one as well, yes? We can look together."

Valkyrie wanted to interact with him more. She hadn't confided in someone other than Spirit or Guardian in, a decade or so. It was nice to have someone else to talk to. Even though she'd had to leave Spirit behind.

She smelled something good a few stalls over. Her stomach growled, reminding her she hadn't eaten yet today. She knew there would be food here, so she hadn't bothered. She was still getting used to the whole, eating more than once a day thing.

"Can we go this way? The food at the stall smells like home."

Ryek nodded, he was fine with looking together if she wanted. He didn't mind the company. "Sure I guess we could look around." He started to browsing through the bagged flags, looking for a lesbian one. It didn't take him long, but Val's stomach growled and it caught his attention.

"Oh yeah sure. I'd love to grab a bite to eat to!" Ryek put the flag down and headed over to the food stalls with her. Eating here was one thing that threw him for a loop. Even after a year he was still having to get used to it.

Pride was usually quite big from where he was from, but nowhere when compared to the scale of Eerie Harbor's! Catcher had seen Pride come and go. He always made sure to stop by and watch the parade and other events. Usually, The City saw maybe a week or so of actual big Pride celebrations, with flags and other graffiti art scattered across the city. Some certain areas held their own events. But here? Nah, here in Eerie it was a full month long celebration! Which was the grooviest thing ever!

When it came to his own pride, it was just something that never really crossed his mind. He didn't tend to take up relationships ever. Last one he was in, he outlived her. So since then it never really interested him, hurt too much. Maybe now would be a good time to start thinking about it, at least.

Though, he would never skip out on an opportunity to wear his sick kicks and groovy as hell shades. He came prepped with enough film to get enough photographs to make a gallery. He was gonna try to sell zines after the event was over. People seemed to like it back where he came from, maybe they'd like it here too?

"Hey, quite something ain't it?" He leaned over to the person standing next to him at the booths. Catcher was taking a gander at some of the buttons with different flags on them. His brows furrowed like he was trying to pinpoint which one would be his. "All these peeps gathered in one place like this, super rad." He shrugged, "Thinking' bout tryin out some of those brightly colored sweets, or grabbing a bite, you in?" He offered.

Ray made his way though the street that was set up for today's pride street faire. It was nice to see this many people out for an event. He spotted someone who looked familiar. It was the radical young man who wanted to play D&D. He managed to make his way over just in time to hear a question.

"Yeah, it's great to see so many people out celebrating who they are. And the pins are nice, which one do you think you'll get?"

Ray looked at all the people expressing their pride. He, himself was wearing a pride shirt of his own. Though his was a little more understated than the o he was seeing.

"Yeah, the sweets look good. I'm Ray, by the way." He held out his hand to shake. "I'm more partial to the candies than the baked goods though. Most places don't make gluten-free sweets."

Catcher's face lit up when he recognized the groovy dude from the comms network. They'd spoken about dungeonin' some dragons at some point during their stay here. Ray was a lot taller than Catcher had anticipated, he had to look up in order to address him.

"Wack! Ray? Nice to meet ya in person. Catcher!" He took Ray's hand and shook it vigorously. He let go after a minute. He did some finger guns when he noticed Ray's shirt. "Sick vibes my man, excellent sense of style."

The shirt was minimalist, but good, got right to the point. Catcher could see himself wearing something like that once he figured out what that meant. "Ah, yeah man! Just lookin' mostly, not sure about which pin yet." He shrugged. "So I think I saw some sweets cruisin' on down this way, you in? I'm sure they got somethin'."

Catcher paused as they walked over. "So tell me bout yourself, where you from?"

Wow, Catcher had a strong handshake! The finger guns reminded him of Sarah though. Catcher was, younger than he expected, given that they were talking about first edition. He must've time traveled.

"I'm sure you'll figure yourself out! It took me until my mid thirties to realize I was bi." Ray said with a smile. "You don't have to figure it out now, and you don't have to stick with whatever label you think fits first." He put a hand on Catcher's shoulder, before he could think better of it.

He started to go in the direction Catcher indicated the sweets were in. The question about his home caught him off guard. It shouldn't have, but he'd been avoiding thinking about it, or he'd miss the Legends.

"Oh, I'm originally from Starling City, well, I guess it's been Star City for a few years now. I used to run a tech company, Palmer Tech, before everyone thought I died, that is. I was most recently time traveling with the Legends though." He paused, maybe he'd said a bit too much. Not that he could take it back now. "What about yourself? What was your home like?"

Catcher laughed a little to himself when Ray mentioned he hadn’t figured it out til he was in his mid-thirties. Catcher was in his mid-seventies! But he would never admit to that, not to Ray. Not to anyone. He’d outlived most of his other family members, anyway. Sexuality was something that never really did cross his mind, he’d outlive anyone he was in a relationship with.

“Thanks man, super radical to hear.” Catcher gave Ray a smile, and he jumped when Ray put a hand on his shoulder. If he went any further he’d be able to feel Catcher’s wings.

“Star City? Sounds wack, like somethin’ out of a comic book or somethin? Dang, I wanna visit wherever you’re from!” Catcher complimented, “And me? I’m just from the good ol USA, specifically West Virginia, if ya dig. Small town and every thin’, but I recently moved to a city called San Francisco in the a lil further west.”

Catcher stopped in front of the window of Pastels and got a good look at a few of the sweets. He pointed at the chocolate covered cake pops, each one decorated to be a different pride flag. “Now these, really razz my berries! I might have to try one of each!” His eyes wandered to the side of the display and pointed at one of the brownies. “Look man! Says GF!” He smiled.

Ray was glad Catcher didn't mention the whole, everyone running he was dead thing. He was, glad that that bit of overstaying was glossed over, instead mentioning that Star City sound like a fictional place. To be honest it did, but Ray had never really thought about it, you tend to take the place you're from for granted, after all.

"Oh, nice! Brownies are the best."

He smiled at the option he could eat. Usually he had to go to specialty bakeries, or make the food himself. It was nice to be able to buy a brownie from a regular store once in a while. It was also nice to see Catcher so enthused at the different pride pops.

Maybe I should try to get some of the others who are in their 20s to join the D&D game? Catcher could probably use some friends his own age.

"Let's go grab some sweets then!"

Catcher hoped it wasn't weird he skipped over the fact that Ray had flat-out mentioned people had thought was dead for several years. Still though. CEO of a tech company? Time travel? This guy was far out, and on a whole other level. Either way, Catcher could dig it. But he left out the information he was over seventy years old, might make this whole convo a bit weird.

Technology must be advanced in Star City, they could only dream of something that far out back in the city.

"Hells yeah! They're totes my jam!" Catcher eyed at the brownies and cake pops in the window. "I think I'll try one of each."

Catcher handed off his money to the cashier and came back with a dozen cake pops each with a different flag decorated in them. If Ray hadn't been gluten-free, he would've easily offered half of the bag to him.

"So lay it on me," Catcher said, taking a bite out of a cake pop decorated like the bi flag. "Is time travel a frequent thing you do for kicks? Or you got something else in mind and junk?"

Ray bought himself a couple brownies, just so he had an extra. He was glad Catcher was having a good time. At the question about time travel, he perked up.

"Oh, recently I was helping try to find the spear of destiny, so a trio of Villains couldn't use it to rewrite reality. When I first got on the ship, we had a different captain. Rip was from the future, and it was his ship. We were working to save the future from an immortal tyrant who caused chaos throughout history. Then there we got hit, and we got scattered throughout time..." Ray paused, realizing he was rambling, trying to summarize his past few years. "This is probably not the most interesting way to talk about time travel, huh."

Everything Ray was saying sounded like a wack plot of a super radical and fantastical sci-fi show, it was pretty far out! His entire world sounded so advanced, yet similar to his own. They even invented time travel! That was hella sick! Catcher's own world was mostly all show no go, but Ray's was totes all show all go!

"Whoa, far out, my man." Catcher chomped on his cake pop, but he was really interested in this whole time travel plot with some villains. "That's quite a gig, such a big responsibility! Well, I s'ppose it's not entirely your fault then. Hope things in the timeline werk'd out!" He gave a smile. "Nah, nah, stuff's way more interesting that where I'm from. Please," Catcher took a bite out of his second cake pop. "Continue!"

Ray was always excited to share his stories, but generally only Felicity or Cisco wanted to listen. Unless it was from before Nate joined, then he'd sometimes want to hear a couple. He missed his friends, especially the other Legends. They weren't great at their job, but it was always a fun time.

"Oh, I mean, yeah, sure! Uh, do you want to hear any specific kind of story? Uh, I got stranded in the Cretaceous period for six months. Or, uh, the time I fought a fifty-foot tall mechanical Goliath. Or when I got stuck in the late 50's. Wow, I've got, a lot of stories from the past few years." Ray scratched the back of his head, awkwardly. "Though I guess the fifties are my least interesting journey, probably."

Link had found out about this event from flyers back at the apartment. It didn't take him long to find this place... but... what was this event? This didn't seem like exploration at all. No one had any equipment. This seemed more like a festival?

He looked around, trying to recall anything like this. It was hard. Had he ever been to a festival before? He had to have. Otherwise why would he know what it was? People look so happy, there were rainbows everywhere. He felt a little out of place.

Link hovered around a few stalls looking at all the things on the tables. It was all so new... He briefly wondered if he looked lost. Maybe someone would have more information. He looked around for someone knowledgeable then walked up to them. He started signing, "Excuse me. Do you know what this is?"

Oliver had come today because there weren't that many festivals like this back home. It was a nice change of pace to be loud about who he was. Most events like this were small back home. It wasn't like being LGBT+ wasn't accepted, but people were just quieter about it. Being able to be loud was nice.

He wore a tee shirt with a chainmail bracelet and his new shoes. Being able to show off who he was, was fun. He felt like he might've gone a bit overboard until he got here, seeing everyone else with so much pride on display was amazing.

He almost didn't notice as a teenager walked up to him. Oh, shit, my sign is so rusty. Uh, that was know... what... this? Maybe he was asking what the fair was? "Oh, this is a pride fair, it's a festival for showing off who you are. That's also why there are so many flags." Oh, shit, could the kid even hear? Damn, he hoped he could read lips at least.

Link looked around after Oliver's explanation, he gave a slow nod before looking back at Oliver, "What do you mean? Pride? Show yourself?" It certainly didn't have any sexual meaning. There were kids about! But Link was still confused.

He glanced around again. So this showing who you are had to do with the flags and it was called Pride... Was it like different nationalities? Like the Hylian crest vs the Goron crest? So where all these people of different races? But they all looked like Hylians- no humans. Humans to him... That was weird to get used to, none of the scientists had his same pointed ears.

Oliver noticed the teens continued confusion. what... mean... show... self? How could he word it better? Maybe he needed to start with sexualities?

"So, uh, it's about being true to yourself. Some people love people who are the same gender they are, which the rainbow and pink flags are for. Some love both genders, that's what the pink, purple, and blue, and the pink, yellow, and blue flags are for. Some people were born one gender, and decide to be something different, which is what the blue, pink and white, and the yellow, white, purple, and black flags are."

He hoped that was a better explanation. It has more specifics, he guessed. Maybe he should find someone who knew more sign?

"Does that make any more sense or do I need to try again?"

Link looked confused. He half turned to process the information, Flags for people who like the same gender? And flags for people who don't identify as the gender they are assigned at birth? Oh. I get it. The clarity read on his face and he nodded. He gave Oliver a thumbs up. Strange. I didn't think you needed a faire for it, but I can see why it would be fun to celebrate something. Like the festivals in the Rito village or Goron City. It's a cultural thing.

He looked around feeling more knowledgeable. He looked back at Oliver, "Thank you for your explanation!"

Oliver was glad for the thumbs up, he didn't know if he could figure out a better way to word it. thanks... explain? Oh, thanks for explaining.

"No problem, I'm Oliver, by the way. I take it you're also from somewhere else?" Oliver gestured to Links ears. "Are you at the halfway house was well?"

He was aware that there were a few teenagers, but he hadn't really talked to any of them, besides Rin, and even then it was a pretty short conversation.

"Did you need any help finding anything?"

Oliver? Got it. Link made a mental note to remember the name. Then Oliver gestured at him. Link tilted his head then understood, he nodded. He signed, "Hyrule".

He wondered if anyone here had ever heard of Hyrule. So far it didn't seem like it. Could I really be the only one who knows of Hyrule..? Will I have to teach others about it? That worried him. He didn't remember much about the history aside from what Impa and Kass had taught him.

Oliver was asking him something. He turned with a look of "huh?" Then it clicked, he signed, "Oh no I just came to check it out."

Oliver didn't recognize the sign Link made. He looked confused, and tilted his head slightly. came... check... out? He guessed Link was just here to look around.

"Well, if you needed any help I'm around!" He smiled, trying to reassure Link. He was planning on staying around this area for a while, but didn't know if Link would want to hand around with him.

I'm not gonna thread this, cause it's late and I have too many to keep up with as it is, thanks Peter lmao. But Addie was definitely in attendance and very interested in everything. She was a little overwhelmed by all the people and noise and new things, but she likes learning, and she really liked getting to see part of the local culture. She loved all the colorful flags, and would shyly linger near tables to listen in, but would only ask questions once a friendly vendor asked if she had any. She would have tried all kinds of foods, but she was too shy to try any of the games, preferring to watch.

If you would like to say that your character saw her there or bumped into her, drop me a note here! We can chat a little about what might have gone down!

I didn't have the chance to thread Rin's attendance at the fair either but I'd love for the two of them to have met! He was very excited over their small little conversation on the network awhile back.

He would probably be frequenting Pastels for food and most likely bumped into her there? Not sure if you had any other plans for that. He was very ecstatic about meeting her, probably bouncing around a lot and being really energetic.

Unless you had anything else in mind for that?

That sounds good! Addie's more shy in person, and she would probably be a little formal cause of her upbringing - I'm still coaxing her towards being more causal. But she would be sweet and polite and would ask how he's liking the faire and if he recommends any particular food!

Rin was probably really casual with her and got excited really easily. He probably overloaded her with questions about being a princess and what her kingdom was like. But if she got overwhelmed he would calm down. As for food, Rin probably recommended everything and probably tried to coax her into trying some stuff!

Does that sound good?

sounds great!! awww he's so cute! XD she probably would get a lil overwhelmed, cause shy. But she'd answer questions about Bamarre and life at court and stuff. She likes food and would definitely try anything he suggested!
