"Come on. Come on."

Satori tapped his fingertips along the edge of the fountain. His leg bounced with anticipation. One hand was situation behind him, near where the water lapped and spread amongst the miscellaneous change. The other hand was holding a paper box, inside a neatly packaged treat waited to be eaten. He'd worked all day to get it right. The moment it was ready and frosted, he'd texted Riley and headed over. Tonight the park was quiet, and he liked it that way. Most everyone had gone home for dinner by now, it was just him out here.

Prom wasn't a thing in Japan. But Tendou was familiar with the concept. Proposing to go with someone the night of, getting dinner and renting a limo before, donning a suit and tie, then dancing the night away. Shiratorizawa was unlike most schools in the Miyagi Prefecture, holding the title of best test scores and also the title of powerhouse in all sports. The only thing that made it similar to the other schools was that it didn't have a prom. The most you could do was invite someone to the school festival. But nothing like a night of formality and getting all dolled up for the hell of it. Not only that, but the prom extended out to guests to the age of 20. As luck would have it, this would be his last and only chance to be able to go.

When it came down to who to ask, there was really only one correct answer: Riley. Freddy was fun, as was Bon-Bon, but they weren't exactly someone you could go out to dinner and dance the night away with. Tendou thought back to the post Ryek had made earlier this year regarding the events for Pride. How Riley's icon came up on his feed, and how his heart practically jumped. He'd go with a guy wouldn't he? That wouldn't be weird. A promposal wasn't a declaration of undying love, and they could go as friends. He has all those other friends, how will I know he'll say yes? Even if he said no, Tendou knew they'd still say hi to each other at the event. Riley wasn't just going to ignore him. But the thought hurt, even though he understood in the end. He's someone fun to be with. Wouldn't have prom any other way.

Any excuse to hang out with Riley was a good one.

"Hey man!" Tendou stood up and hid the box behind his back. Small, inconspicuous. "Thanks for being able to come over so quick."

"Ah come on." Tendou waved one of his free hands ahead of him, carefully moving the box out of Riley's line of sight in case he looked over. "You know I don't care about that stuff. I'm usually late to my first class anyway. It's no big. Actually-uh, it's not that big a deal, and I don't have to be, uhm. Doing this. But I saw some stuff online and...uh...since it's coming up and all. Just look."

Satori brought the box forward and tapped on it with his fingertips. Opening it revealed a single donut, complete with a cheesy: "Prom? Please donut say no" quip taped to the upper end of the box. It was the best donut pun he could find online with the limited amount of searching. Right up Riley's alley, of course. He was always wearing those t-shirts with funny sayings on them.

Doughnuts were a sore spot for Tendou in the baking world. But everyone likes doughnuts. And buying them from the shop down the street just wouldn't be the same. He was determined to get them right. Out of the two dozen he'd made, only a few made the cut. He'd selected the very best one and got to work on the strawberry frosting and sprinkles while it cooled. Overall, he thought the result tasted just as good as it looked. If he doesn't like it, I'll just eat it. He'd reasoned with himself earlier. Even though strawberry wasn't his thing chocolate was. It was good though, especially when mixed together. Chocolate and strawberry. Flavor metaphors? Really?

"Ta-da!" Satori blurted, rubbing the back of his neck a bit anxiously. "So, what do you say? Will you go with me?"

"Huh?" Riley tilted his head and leaned in to look. He took the box and opened it with a smile. Prom.... please donut say no? He blinked a couple times as it took a moment to process. "Oh!" Riley's cheeks turned slightly pink and he covered his face with one hand to quickly hide it. He was always embarrassed anytime he blushed. That's so cute! He tried to calm himself down. Truth be told he'd never had such a cheeky and goofy promposal or even a proposal to really anything. Even in his past relationships all he ever really got was just a causal question. This was really special, Tendou clearly thought about it.

"Of course I will!" He said as he finally uncovered his face. His cheeks were still pink. "It you make this? It looks professional! Really!" Riley complimented with a soft giggle. He reached to take the doughnut out of the box. He set the box down on the edge of the fountain and broke the doughnut in half, giving the other half to Tendou. He didn't even think about it, just held it out while he took his own bite. "This is delicious!" He blurted out, and quickly went to finish his bite. "It's strawberry frosting?" Riley looked at Tendou with wide eyes, "How did you know that's one of my favorite flavors?" Riley half turned and laughed. That just made this entire thing even better. Tendou seriously was such a great guy.

"I'm excited to go with you! Are we going to get all dressed up? Do you need a suit and stuff? We can go rent one if you want. I'll need to rent one!" Riley happily started talking as he finished the rest of his half. After a moment he went quiet and just looked at Tendou for a moment. He reached over and pulled him into a hug, "That was really special. Thank you." He let Tendou go and gave him a soft sincere smile.

"Really? You mean it?" Tendou's expression brightened up as he accepted, his cheeks also growing a slight rose tint. He didn't laugh or anything as he watched Riley turn and cover his face. It was cute. Satori walked over and put a hand on his shoulder. "You're gonna have to show me all the ropes. The ins and out. What to wear, all that! I don't even know where to start. Renting stuff? Uh, yeah! All the details make my head spin. We're gonna match though, yeah?"

Tendou smiled wide. He thought back to their adventure to go get pizza and ice cream. How Riley had selected strawberry almost as fast as Tendou had chosen chocolate. By that alone, it had to be favorite. Making the choice to do the frosting as such as a no-brainer from that point on. Satori always tried to learn the ins and outs of his friend's favorite combinations or tastes, moreso that he could incorporate the vast selection of flavors into his own place

"Ah yeah, it is. Thanks!" He rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly. "When we went out the other day, I remembered you picked strawberry ice cream. I figured it was something you liked. So I uh, thought it was a good idea for the frosting. It tasted okay, really? It was my first time attempting doughnuts and boy, does it look way easier in online tutorials than it is to make them for real." He laughed, too. Surprised that he was handed back a piece of it. Upon eating it, it turned out even better than he thought. "Hey! Not bad."

"Yeah." Tendou muttered as he buried into the hug, giving Riley a tight squeeze. Not expecting the hug, but sinking into it. "Anytime."

Riley laughed, "You picked it out from my ice cream choice?" He playfully have Tendou a nudge. "No way! You're so preceptive." Riley was touched, and a little embarrassed. It had been such a long time since someone had paid attention to small things like that. Well besides Ada, but she didn't count. She knew practically everything about Riley. Still, someone he'd only just met paying attention to something like that? Riley blushed a little, and it wasn't from embarrassment. That's really sweet of him. He's a great guy..

"Yeah! I'll totally help you out! I've had to rent suits a couple times for band! Though that's never a full suit..." Riley paused to think for a moment, "But yeah! And we'll totally match!" He smiled wide, "If we're going as a pair we sort of have to! That's just like group attire standard!" He joked, reaching for the doughnut box he'd left on the side of the fountain. Riley glanced around for a trashcan to properly dispose of it. "Do you have any colors in mind or are we gonna go with classic black?" He asked casually, his eyes landed on a trashcan nearby.

Riley jogged over and tossed the box, returning quickly, "Oh hey do you want a ride to the halfway house? My dad said he could pick me up again. Or I could walk you home if you want?" Riley offered, giving a softer smile, "It's not too far from where my dad was going anyway, I can text him and tell him I'll meet him there." He reached out and grabbed Tendou's hand, "Come on! We can talk about our outfit plans!"
